When it comes to desktops, I typically prefer to build my own. However, it is not necessarily cheaper to do so. One factor is that a new license for Windows 10 starts at $100 for the Home edition. Based on reviews of other Acer Aspire desktops, I was concerned that this computer might not come with a valid, activated key for Windows, as others reported that as a common issue. Not here! Windows 10 was activated, and I even reinstalled Windows 10 on it, which activated on its own (the license key is stored on the motherboard). Pricing the other components separately: processor $115, memory $65, hard drive $40, motherboard $50, power supply $30, DVD burner $20, case $30. That’s $450 separately ($100 for Windows 10 Home), and still doesn’t include features such as wireless and bluetooth or a keyboard and mouse. While outdated, the included PowerDVD 12 was plenty adequate for the DVDs that I tested on the computer. I installed office, streamed videos, and explored the features included with Windows, all of which this computer handled without any slowdowns or other issues. I expect it to last for several years, and it can always be upgraded with a graphics card, more or faster memory, a faster processor, and/or a solid state drive. For $350 this computer is hard to beat, and the Acer brand has a reputation of quality that is displayed in the craftsmanship of this computer.
I got this for my parents. The Intel i3 processor is much faster than I anticipated. Additionally, the 8gb of high speed RAM combine to make this computer much faster than the Intel i7 processor I have in my laptop. Highly recommend.
I don’t need a super duper computer. This was purchased to replace my old, gave-up-the-ghost pc. It is a great pc for me, fast, reliable, and a lot of disc space. For the money, it was perfect for me.
So far so good no problems hooking it up or setting it up or anything, yay! Not a bad price either I thought Windows 10 might be complicated, nope.
I love its speed, power, & capacities. Plus more can be added. Getting access to the manual required another computer, after that the set up went rapidly. The bulk (size) of the tower seems excessive. However, I had just the place under my table set-up to handle this bulk & still fairly quickly get at the plugins in its rear. I look forward to using it as it will become my workhorse computer!
For a basic desktop pc is good and you can play some old games on it or just upgrade
Bought it for my Mom. She loves it.
Totally satisfied with my new computer, just took a little time getting used to Microsoft 10 - now I love working with it!
great desktop just what I expected
Although this is a budget desktop, it’s very speedy and capable. For the price, this thing actually has really good specs.
Great pc
Has worked very well so far and will be much improved with a new solid state hard drive installed. Bought it as a budget computer to upgrade as prices for SSD’s and RAM come…
Order first one, upon boot up received error code and it would shut down. Tried several times same thing. Return and received second one with same results.
right out of the box, the disc drive did not work.
So far so good..pretty fast for the $$
Perfect for a little home computer for my mother who mostly uses it to browse the web.
filled the need
