Product Reviews

Solid. Seems well made

Nice simple flashlight. This Anker Bolder LC40 is a no frills, solid flashlight for a decent price. It is nice and heavy and has a lanyard that can serve as a wrist strap. The beam is fixed and does not zoom. This is not a bad thing because the LC40 produces a bright inner circle, surrounded by a larger less focused outer circle. It looks to me like a nice compromise between zooming in and out.The 2 things I noticed that was not so good were both related to the end. The cap has to be tightened all the way down for the flashlight to operate. If I loosen the end cap about 15 degrees (like going halfway between 12:00 and 1:00 o’clock on a clock), the light turns off. That could just be my 18650 battery, though it works fine in another flashlight. A lot of flashlights have special edges on the light end on barrel. This is supposed to be for breaking a window in case of an emergency. With the LC40, the sharp edges are on the tail end. After screwing the end cap on a off about 4-5 times for testing, the web of my hand between the thumb and forefinger is sore from where the edges have contacted my skin.Overall, I am happy with the light. It seems well made.

Ultra bright, premium quality built, compact, lightweight, A++

Wow this little flashlight is POWERFUL! I posted some pictures with the flashlight on and off, but really does no justice to how bright and strong the light is. I’m extremely impressed with how much light such a small and compact device can provide. I have a flashlight over twice as big and heavy that isn’t nearly as bright! At just about 5”x1”x1” and only 2.6 ounces, this is ultra portable and easily fits in your pocket, purse, bag, glove box, pretty much anywhere. The build quality is outstanding, using top grade materials that feel awesome and withstand rain and dust. This is one of those super handy things that everyone should just have. Get one for yourself, get one (or a few) as a gift - makes an awesome gift! While I did receive a sample for my fair review, I can honestly say I think this flashlight is absolutely a must have and a tremendous value at full price. Strongly recommend. Another winner from Anker!

A good solid flashlight

A good solid flashlight. But nothing fancy and not even the best flashlight I have bought this week. But a good solid flashlight. Has three modes of light, HIGH, LOWER (but not much), and BLINKING. And the good thing about this flashlight is that you don’t have to turn it off and then back on again, just tap the button and it goes to the next mode. Very cool. You can buy a nicer #18650 rechargable battery (Olight ORB-186P26 works great) and get a much bright beam, or use 3 AAA batteries. I have grown so used to Anker’s products being head and shoulders better than all the rest I was superised that this flashlight wasn’t that way. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with this, but it’s just another good flashlight. / Anker has become that company I really look up to for their great products with reasonable prices. / No, I didn’t get ANYTHING free, I had to pay my hard earned $$$ for this flashlight. I just wrote this review because I felt like it, NOT because anybody gave me anything.

My first impression was that it was much more solid and well-built than I expected for such a low price. The next was that the lumens, which is usually so over-stated by manufacturers, seems accurate…at least in comparison to other flashlights I own. It’s not dimmable and I wish manufacturers would offer reasonably priced flashlights without the annoying strobe feature. But I wouldn’t penalize the product as I knew these facts going in.Affordable. Quality build with a nice tactile feel to the tail clicker. Considering this is the price of one of those cheapie big box store lights, I highly recommend.

or 6hrs w/ 18650 li ion) on high mode -hits a pretty good compromise between spot and flood

I’ve only had this flashlight for a month, but here are some pros & cons of this product in my opinion.PROS-Very bright for a $10-13 flashlight. I doubt you’ll find others in the same price range with this level of brightness.-Good run time (4 hrs w/ 3AAA, or 6hrs w/ 18650 li ion) on high mode-hits a pretty good compromise between spot and flood.-Great customer service from Anker-duel fuel. can take 3 AAAs or one 18650 rechargeable li ion battery-water resistantCONS- NOT digitally regulated output, so it gets dimmer the longer you run the batteries, but at this price, regulated output shouldn’t really be expected.- Mode selection and memory can be annoying sometimes, like when you pick it up and it goes to strobe instead of high. This is mostly why I took off one star.-Not waterproof- less than ideal grip texture. In fact pretty terrible. This thing is like a wet hot dog compared to other lights I have. But I can live with it.- Personally, I don’t like using three AAAs.If you’re looking for a $10 flashlight, This is a pretty good choice. I would also check out the Coast hp1. I have one of those as well and would recommend it. The brightness of my hp1 running on a 14500 battery is nearly the same brightness as my lc40, even though the hp1 is rated 190 lumens and the lc40 is 400. Thus, with AAAs, the lc40 may be a little less than 400 lumens. however, it’s still brighter than anything else in its price range.

Anker finally let me down…

It’s too easy to get into the “strobe” mode!If you plan to use an 18650 battery instead of 3 AAA’s be aware that Anker does not supply a tube to center the battery.I have found many 18650 supporting lights in the same price range and they supply the tube…

A solid light from Anker

Not bad at all, I own lights from LaRue, Surefire, Fenix and while it’s no Surefire it’s not a bad little light for the price.

Super! I’ll buy again when I lose it.

Easy to use and quite bright. Also seems to be lucky, as I haven’t lost it yet! :)

Very nice Flashlight! It is well built and works great

Very nice Flashlight! It is well built and works great! Very bright for the size. I will be purchasing more so that I have several around the house and in my vehicles.

Best flashlights

This is probably my favorite go to flashlight. Small and powerful. Throws an awesome beam at night. We use it for our nightly walks and it never fails.

Four Stars

Good

Great quality.

Throws a tremendous amount of light. This light is so bright, I’m sure someone’s sight could be impaired if the light was shown right in their eyes.

Very bright and solidly built. Priced right, too!

Cheap enough to buy three or four and throw this in your glove box or drawer for when you need it.At this price point nothing worth complaining about.

Five Stars

Worthwhile light at a great price. Long range. Great for night hiking or dog walking

Bright

Great flashlight. Very bright. Compact size.

Anker always makes a great product

Excellent value. I have purchased many Anker products and the quality is always excellent.
