This Amazon item gets you the newest version MD826AM

Ordering this thing gets you the newest version (MD826AM/A) and not the ZM/A version. March 2016I cannot speak to the older version but I just received this new on from Amazon. Tested it. What some of the very low reviews claim is NOT true.You get the HDMI feed from the phone, but it depends on the source. Low quality YouTube looks like crap on an HD set obviously but HD video looks just great.You DO get headphone audio output (tested YouTube and Safari website played video).I cannot talk to what a specific app on the phone does based on how they program it to behave. It’s certainly thinkable a specific app could be written to only output audio via HDMI just as some apps refuse to allow playback out of the HDMI adapter. I got video audio on YouTube videos. I got audio on website (safari) played video.So it does what I expect it to do. One star away just because it so bulky.I’ll update this review if my experience indicates a change in performance or reliability.Additionally the audio stayed in sync with the video just fine. I was listening with headphone jack connected earbuds. Though this isn’t a typical use case but a plugged in external speaker would work the same.Again I tested with YouTube. I didn’t yet test with 1080P not with a dedicated video app. If I discover an HD app or feed cannot keep audio in sync with the video I’ll update the review.

Love it!

Works perfect for what I needed it for! Recently cut my cable and wifi off at home. Unlimited data on my cell phone and this adapter allows me to stream Netflix right on my TV. I can still view notifications while watching on the TV but any other activity will show on the screen. I sacrifice using my phone while I watch TV, but it’s well worth the money I save on everything else monthly. A lot of reviews complain about the price point, but I suppose that’s relative to its intended use.

HDMI in for Honda Civic

I needed this to connected my iPhone 6 Plus to my 2014 Honda Civic. I connected it and pressed the hdmi option and that was it. It charges my phone and will even play videos at the same time! It’s great I’m excited!

Fantastic with one suggestion

This is AWESOME!!!! It plays exactly what is on your mobile device screen, with the exception that I found of streaming from Xfinity. Netflix worked just fine. I bought an inexpensive TV for my kitchen and was able to watch Christmas shows while baking, and took it to my school to show a YouTube video. Worked great! One warning, if you are showing others videos and get a lot of alerts, others will see your activity log popping up during the show. Sometimes it is annoying, and sometimes you don’t want others to see your activity. Suggestion: Turn off notifications if it will be a group viewing.

This is an awesome adapter!! It provides a great picture quality and I can charge my iPad while it’s connected to the t.v set.

Great little adapter

Great little adapter, however it doesn’t work with live streaming from the major cable companies (I tried Cox and Comcast and got a display “video stream not authorized for this device) had to return it.

It works

Didn’t have to mess with it. Plugged it into phone and tv and it worked immediately. Don’t forget to turn phone sideways for full screen view. I don’t have cable so I stream Netflix and Amazon Prime using an old iPhone. I purchased a 15’ hdmi cable and a 10’ charger cord so my old iPhone is now a great little remote control.

UPDATE I did end up sending it back and ordering a replacement which had the same problem, and after extensive trouble shooting I have been able to get it to somewhat work, although it would never work for what I actually wanted it for…to stream videos from my phone to my TV display. The connection issue was resolved by switching out my HDMI cable (which works fine with everything else, so go figure). The problem is getting the display up. Sometimes the display pops right up and sometimes I have to disconnect and reconnect ten times until it works. When it does work though, the audio is out of sync with the video rendering the whole thing pointless for my application. And the key part of this thing is…when it works. Ever been to a party or an event and the guy doing the sound or video is having technical issues and the whole party is waiting for something to happen. Yes, I’m that guy!!! Good thing I guess is I know to come prepared and not have to rely on this. I am downgrading my review from 2 stars to 1 star.It worked the very first time I’ve plugged it in and after 50 additional failed attempts I’m sending it back. I have iPhone 6S+ and tried it on two different Panasonic TV’s and a Hitachi TV and tried multiple HDMI inputs. I tried it with power to the device and without power to the device. I also tried two different HDMI cables. I’ve tried rebooting my phone, plugging the cable in to the device first, the TV first, and then phone 1st. I can;’t get any combination of anything to work again.The first time I plugged it in and it worked I was SO happy. It was exactly what I have been looking for. Very disappointed. I’ll give a 2nd one a try since maybe I just got a bad device. For now…junk

THOUGHT I was paying for quality.

Attempted to use this item for the second time and it seems to be broken. Won’t connect and when it does it doesn’t fully; staticky picture and splotchy sound. Very disappointed.
