The AT&T 3G Home Microcell Wireless Network Extender requires GPS signal to operate properly. Inside the house where your microcell is located you could have little or no GPS signal at all….To get proper signal you will need to locate a GPS antenna next to a window. This unit will detect and amplify the GPS signal and channel it into your Microcell for best possible reception and operation.
Does not lock on to GPS any quicker than before. HOWEVER, I no longer have to set the AT&T micro-cell in the windowsill! AT&T really should have included this like Sprint does with their Airave.This product does what it says it does. Now I can move the AT&T micro-cell out of the window and on to the shelf, next to the Airave. (Footnote… An AT&T micro-cell can share the same DSL line with a Sprint Airave).This is also supposed to be a Cisco product, per the Amazon listing which reads “by Cisco”. I purchased this one, even though it was a couple bucks more than the off-brand one. This is NOT labeled “Cisco”, either on the device or on the packaging (a simple plastic baggie). That doesn’t mean it isn’t a Cisco product as there is no brand label whatsoever. The sticker on the back only reads “GPS Antenna” and lists the frequency & voltage - no company name at all. It does strike me odd that a company like Cisco would pass up the chance to stick their brand name on everything. My gut check says this is a knock-off and not an official Cisco product. I mention it here because if you are looking for an official Cisco branded product, you should probably just buy the cheaper off-brand one from Amazon.
Life saver! We have an M-Cell from AT&T because our reception is so poor in our house. Started with it in the office by the router, but our phones couldn’t get good reception. Moved it to the living room, connected it to a wireless network extender, no good. The stupid thing would drop off of our wifi, and the satellite would lose contact, and we’d get these ominous texts from the ATT Death Star saying something like “The device is no longer at the registered address. This is your final notice.” So, we moved it back into the office, plugged it directly into the router (which we should’ve been doing all along, but then our phones had trouble connecting to the MCell because the office is in the back of the house). The MCell has to be next to a window, and it wasn’t working well at all. Enter this antenna. Taped it up in the office window, put the MCell next to the office door, and now we all have great reception! The antenna has a nice, long cable, long enough to pull us part of the way out of the technological black hole we seem to live in. Now if our ISP would step up their game….3-6 Mbps is a joke these days!
I have owned two of these and had the same problem with both. they really improve the reception but when you try to unplug them they leave the outer sleeve in the unit. A major design flaw. you have to replace the unit or carefully insert the plug and leave it connected
This works great. It fixed the problem that we were having when we relocated the Mcell. One word of warning though, is that it is very difficult to unplug from the M cell after having plugged it in. So make sure that you have routed the cable, which is quite long, before you plug it in and it will give you good performance without a hassle.
Sure it would have worked fine if we had an older Micro Cell if you have a newer unit (black in color) there is not a aux input for the antenna
great item
Before this antenna my microcell would need to be unplugged and plugged back in to reset the signal everyday which was very annoying. Now i never have that problem and i have signal 24⁄7
Solid connection with it
As advertised…
It allows me to place the microcell away from my window.
Did not improve reception
Great Item as always A+++++
exactly as advertised and works perfectly
Worked - Attached to my MicroCell and now it works again in my house.
This antenna is exactly what I needed. Excellent / Expedited shipping / delivery. Thx!
It did not help. The microcell tower was defective and the new one they replaced it with did not need this antenna.
