Acquires and Locks onto GPS Signal in Marginal Areas
AT&T Cisco 3G MicroCell Wireless Network Extender requires GPS signal to activate and operate. However, MicroCell may not be able to acquire and lock onto GPS signal in the middle of a house or building. Gilsson High Performance GPS Antenna will allow one to place GPS antenna near a window to receive and boost incoming GPS signal for use with AT&T 3G MicroCell Wireless Network Extender.* Please note - The Microcell model# DPH 154 DOES NOT have an external GPS antenna port, therefore the antenna cannot be used.
This little gadget saved my sanity. On the phone with AT&T for hours and hours, they couldn’t figure out why, after 2 years of successfully using the MicroCell tower, it suddenly could not find the GPS signal. Ordered this antenna, arrived two days later, plugged it into the tower, placed the antenna next to the window (inside). Our location is low, almost in the creek bottom, lots and lots of trees. I was UNABLE to get even a one-bar phone signal without the MicroCell. It took about three or four hours for the antenna to capture the GPS. Now I have five bars and it’s working perfectly!
I ordered this because my ATT Microcell maintains only an intermittent GPS lock at the only available window. I thought I’d add this extender and place it where it could get a better view of the sky. It is apparently far superior to the internal antenna in the Microcell because, after simply plugging it in, the Microcell gets perfect reception while leaving the extender in the original location!
I have the 3G MicroCell tower in my apartment because of thick brick walls and poor AT&T signal reception. The MicroCell tower only worked sporadically. After dealing with AT&T Tech Support more times than I could count (with limited results), on a whim I purchased this Cisco 3G Antenna “network extender.” I wasn’t optimistic because my windows face other buildings without a good view to the sky. What a surprise! Soon after placing this in my window and plugging it in to the MicroCell tower I got 5 bars and is hasn’t dropped once in the last month. This product works (at least for my application).
My home is in an area that has very poor cell reception. My AT&T MicroCell doesn’t help much because trees limit access to satellites. The best I could get was two bars. This antenna extender completely solved my reception problems. I now get 5 bars, continuously clear reception, and no dropped calls (unless the person I’m talking to has poor reception). Mount it where it will have maximum unobstructed ability to connect with satellites and you won’t be disappointed
Easy to install, the cable actually comes in two parts - a generic antenna with cable, and an additional cable which gives the extra distance and switches adapter type so it fits in the MicroCell antenna port. Like many others, I didn’t have the MicroCell right next to a window, and really didn’t want it there (so I’d have to periodically move it around to get GPS lock). With the extender plugged in, it’s now neatly tucked away out of sight and works great.
The microcell would drop the signal 6-8 times per day until we got the microcell antenna. It has worked about 99% of the time except for maybe some weather related dropped signal issues.
Works great! My Micro cell is tucked far away from the window.
Good Product, very
Does the job!
It may be OK but the Microcell unit that I bought to go with this does not have any port for the antenna to plug into.
Great
Perfect!!!!
Doesn’t work with new microcell even though it is still listed as an addon for it.
Has no connectivity access on my wireless 3G Microcell device. Currently not being used for this reason. Cannot assess it’s value.
The device has performed it duties admirably.
works great
As expected.
