Great charger. I haven’t opened it up yet to look at the internals, but it delivers rated power and appears clean.Pros: The size is wonderful, as everyone else is saying. The power is pretty clean for a switcher. (See below)Cons: Relatively high no-load current draw at 61 mA at 13V input. If your car battery is already bad and your 12V accessaory circuit is for some reason left on while you’re away for a month, you could come back to a dead battery. Typical car battery at ~ 40 Ah / 0.061 A = ~27 days to discharge a full car battery - less for bad batteries. Simple solution is to unplug the thing when you walk away.I tested it under only 2.7 amp load (don’t have a big enough load to go to rated output!) and saw ~ 50 mV peak to peak noise at about 330 kHz, as seen in picture of a small portable scope. Power supply tech just keeps getting better. The DC voltage output is right there at 5.1 volts for mine, but crappy cables will drop voltage just due to their own resistance. The first picture is the output voltage when plugged into my car cig receptacle with engine running at 0.9A load (3A load looked identical). Misc. other system noise is sneaking through the aukey a bit, but that is usually way worse in other chargers. The second pic is the output voltage plugged into a car receptacle without engine running (in other words very clean stable source without alternator noise) with 0.9A load. Voltage ripple here is presumably solely from the aukey, and is reduced to ~35 mV - great! The triangular waveform in the third picture is the voltage output when plugged into dedicated battery (simulating car with engine off) having no load at all except the minuscule scope impedance itself. Noise is still only 50 mV, awesome. Unfortunately, it looks like it’s taking 61 mA from the supply.Overall, I’m very happy. I have not tested its surge handling, but because of its tiny tiny size, I’d guess it can’t protect that much from the spikes that happen with vehicle electrical systems so often.Because of that, I would definitely suggest not having this plugged in to your devices when starting or stopping your car - probably gonna be okay if you forget to pull it out though.
This is the second Aukey charger I have purchased because it works very well. I have one in my truck and I just got one for my wife’s car. The charger fits very snugly in the socket so it never moves or falls out, and it charges my phone quickly. This is a good quality product.
i was looking for a low-profile 12v USB charger that would fit in the front socket of our Audi A4 so the cover would close when it’s not in use, and this works perfectly !
I got this for my Lexus CT-200h, which has a charging outlets hidden beneath a small door in the console. The already built-in USB outlet was taken by a micro-sized thumb drive to play music, but I still needed another USB outlet to charge my phone. I also wanted to be able to close the outlet door when not in use. This charger saved the day.As slim as it is, the car’s outlet door still could not close fully, so I trimmed off the side of the charger with a utility knife to allow the door to close. Definitely worth the purchase.
Super slim design is almost flush in the cigarette lighter. I’ve had others that are needlessly clunky with lights that are terrible at night. No annoying lights either. Charges super fast too
Ok, so I’ve owned several of these in the past. Different brands, different vendors, etc. They all perform “the same” up to the point where they don’t. By this, I mean they all work great, until you put them to the test by charging two high demand items, or leaving them plugged in for a very long time. So, on to this specific one.- I’ve plugged in two smart phone simultaneously (android and apple) while they were both low on charge, and they both charged up as quickly as with any other quality product.- I’ve used this to keep my phone plugged in while using Waze (notorious battery drainer), Pandora, and other Apps simultaneously, and the phone has maintained a decent battery charge. All in all, for the price, this is a great product and I will definitely purchase again if/when needed.
I purchased this for my 2014 Kia Soul. It sits flush beneath the 12v cover and retains the clean stock look. Love it!!!
This is a great little adapter. It has two USB 2.4A ports which can charge two devices like a phone and a tablet. This is used for an iPhone and a Garmin GPS. Both can be used and charged at the same time with no impact on charge times. It will also handle an iPad and iPhone. Some USB car chargers are either 1A only or 1A and 2.1A (not 2.4A). Some USB car chargers don’t seem to work with some phones, so I can’t speak to other applications.Another plus for me is the flush fit of this device. It’s being used in a Powerlet-to-12V cigarette adapter on a BMW bike, so you don’t want a big stack of ungainly bits hanging off the bars, so to speak. Short of directly wiring USB ports to the bike, this makes for a fairly compact power supply. Reliability is always a long term assessment, but otherwise this is a great little device. I’d recommend it in a heartbeat.Just What the Doctor Ordered Pt. 1 Powerlet to 12V Socket adapterhttps://www.amazon.com/review/R1RORYKKAIHLOS/ref=pe_1098610_137716200_cm_rv_eml_rv0_rv
Didn’t hold in my truck port charger, it always slips out. Tinkered with it a bit but with no success.
It’s the least durable car charger I’ve ever owned. The cover over the USB ports came off the first time I unplugged a cord, and I hassled with it every time I used it for a…
It started coming apart after a month. Piece of regrettability.
Bought it on sale, charges my s8 pretty fast, love the look and it feels high quality. Cant go wrong with this buy especially ifyou pick it up on sale.
Nice
inexpensive, works well in the car.
Fits very flush to your cars cigarette charger and with its low profile, it almost seems as if it was built into the car.
To be truthful, it isn’t as flush as I was hoping but I am still very happy with it. My sockets have swing open covers on them and I was hoping that I would be able to still close…
Good quality, fast charging, low profile car charger. Bought a second one after trying this one out for a week !
