Product Reviews

Great charger.

Great charger. I haven’t opened it up yet to look at the internals, but it delivers rated power and appears clean.Pros: The size is wonderful, as everyone else is saying. The power is pretty clean for a switcher. (See below)Cons: Relatively high no-load current draw at 61 mA at 13V input. If your car battery is already bad and your 12V accessaory circuit is for some reason left on while you’re away for a month, you could come back to a dead battery. Typical car battery at ~ 40 Ah / 0.061 A = ~27 days to discharge a full car battery - less for bad batteries. Simple solution is to unplug the thing when you walk away.I tested it under only 2.7 amp load (don’t have a big enough load to go to rated output!) and saw ~ 50 mV peak to peak noise at about 330 kHz, as seen in picture of a small portable scope. Power supply tech just keeps getting better. The DC voltage output is right there at 5.1 volts for mine, but crappy cables will drop voltage just due to their own resistance. The first picture is the output voltage when plugged into my car cig receptacle with engine running at 0.9A load (3A load looked identical). Misc. other system noise is sneaking through the aukey a bit, but that is usually way worse in other chargers. The second pic is the output voltage plugged into a car receptacle without engine running (in other words very clean stable source without alternator noise) with 0.9A load. Voltage ripple here is presumably solely from the aukey, and is reduced to ~35 mV - great! The triangular waveform in the third picture is the voltage output when plugged into dedicated battery (simulating car with engine off) having no load at all except the minuscule scope impedance itself. Noise is still only 50 mV, awesome. Unfortunately, it looks like it’s taking 61 mA from the supply.Overall, I’m very happy. I have not tested its surge handling, but because of its tiny tiny size, I’d guess it can’t protect that much from the spikes that happen with vehicle electrical systems so often.Because of that, I would definitely suggest not having this plugged in to your devices when starting or stopping your car - probably gonna be okay if you forget to pull it out though.

MAYBE! This is the adapter you are looking for. (IF YOU GET THE RIGHT VERSION) - UPDATED REVIEW

Woot! This thing is awesome!!! Super tiny. It is actually slightly smaller than my lighter in my Mercedes which is super short because it has a door that slides over the ash tray. It is awesome and it charges my iPhone 6 Plus like a CHAMP!! Buy it. —————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** UPDATE!*** {NEED TO KNOW} - OK, I just dropped the rating down two stars because I found an inconsistency in their design which will cause contact issues that people may not be aware of. I just recently went on a long trip with my wife and son. We took her car. She drives a 2011 Audi A4. What you probably do not know about this car is the cigaret lighter is covered by a very low profile sliding door. I tried numerous car chargers and have never been able to get the sliding door to shut. Well this little bad boy worked just fine. So, I was like GREAT. Honey (being the good husband that I am) YOU KEEP IT! I’ll just buy a new one. Well I had no idea what I got myself into, but I promise you, my pain is your gain. Anyway, on with the story. I tra la la’d over to my computer, went to my purchase history and BAM!, ordered another one. I waited 2 days (gotta love prime) and my new Aukey arrived. YAY! I go over to my Mercedes c250 plug it in AND!…….nothing. Was it DOA? What could be wrong? I tried different plugs, different cables, different phones. It wasn’t working, so I thought, OK we all get bad eggs once in a while. I ordered an exchange and another one was soon on its way (gotta love amazon). Second one comes, same issue. However this time if I pushed down hard on the adapter and then plugged in my device, it would charge, but after a while it wouldn’t work anymore. Clearly this once perfect adapter has now somehow stopped being so…perfect. I thought to myself, why the heck is this thing not working anymore? I’m going to check to see if it’s my cars input. I’ll just grab my original one that I gave my wife. Well I took it, plugged it in and WHAM! The beautiful chime of the iPhone signified that it was ALIVE! Power at last. Now I was really curious, what could be the problem?? So I took my original one and put it right up against the spanking new one I had received that day, and wouldn’t you know it, I found the problem. The contact nub is CONSIDERABLY shorter on the new one than it was on the old one. GOTCHA! The good news is, my wife’s lighter input is shallower than mine, so she is keeping the new one and I am going back to the old one. WHY IS THERE AN INCONSISTENCY AUKEY!??? Make up your mind. I’m sure that is why there is a group of people saying it works great, and another group saying it doesn’t work. Because the adapters are different! SEE THE PICTURE FOR YOURSELF!With Love, IAMGADGETMAN!

Slim profile makes for a nearly perfect fit!

My primary reason for buying this unit was:1) 2.4A on both ports - check2) Fits flush allowing my outlet cover to close - almostI shaved off about 1/16th of an inch of the lip on this item with a box cutter. 2 min. modification. With that slight change it allowed the cover to close completely on my 2013 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid’s back seat power outlet. The design of this item could have narrowed two of the sides to allow for hinges, like mine. Also for those curious, I’m able to remove this from the outlet without much effort. Fits snug but isn’t “stuck” in the outlet.

Low-profile, attractive, looks like a built-in

I got this for my Lexus CT-200h, which has a charging outlets hidden beneath a small door in the console. The already built-in USB outlet was taken by a micro-sized thumb drive to play music, but I still needed another USB outlet to charge my phone. I also wanted to be able to close the outlet door when not in use. This charger saved the day.As slim as it is, the car’s outlet door still could not close fully, so I trimmed off the side of the charger with a utility knife to allow the door to close. Definitely worth the purchase.

5 stars, great design.

Great design.

Does the job on my ‘05 Sienna.

Sturdy and angles my phone perfectly on my 2005 Toyota Sienna.

Plenty of power and low profile.

Excellent little charger with low profile and plenty of juice!Still works great after almost a year.

It’s a joke

It smoked as soon as I plugged it in. Piece of junk.

Worked as expected

Great charger it fits perfect in the ashtray in my Mercedes

Ideal

As usual, this manufacturer has made a great-performing accessory and at a good price. Have not tested with a voltage meter, but clearly my 6s+ charges faster now than it did on…

A nice quality little car charging adapter. I’ve had several Aukey items and not a bad one yet.

Does exactly what you’d expect from a charger, the high amp port works great and the flush fit is exactly as described so it makes for a really clean, minimally invasive fit with…

The cover does not close with the charger plugged in but does work well and charges my iPhone quickly.
