Had this for 6 months. It fits great and flushed to the body. However, like some of the other users, I started getting IO errors on the card. The only way for me to get the card mounted to my desktop again is to reboot the entire system. You can’t just remove and plug it back in, hoping the OS would see it.The MicroSD works fine when I use a different adaptor. Apparently the BaseQi version is a hit or miss. If it worked like it should, then this would have been one of the best portable option to have for additional storage.
This is about the only proper way I’ve found to have a built in micro SD memory card installed on a MacBook Pro series laptop. Be sure to buy the correct version for your specific MacBook model. Although a little pricey it fits very well to compliment your MacBook Pro. When in place it is totally flush with the case so nothing can get damaged. Although my Macbook should accommodate an SDXC card the 128 Gb micro memory card I used only indicates 64 Gb for some unknown reason. It’s identified as SDXC and exFAT format so maybe someone can tell me what’s going on. I figured with exFAT format I could also use it in a PC if necessary. Construction is smooth and neat. Although it’s flush with the case it can be removed with a fingernail.
Fits seamlessly into my mbp early 2011. Only thing I thought was going to be different was it was going to essentially add storage to my actual computer and there may be away to do this, but it is more of a USB like external storage. But gets the job done I just deleted all of my pictures from my computer and put them onto that along with some of my nursing school documents that I don’t need at all times that were clogging up my storage space.
I got a 120 GB micro SD card to go with this. It didn’t work. I was eventually able to load something onto it but then I couldn’t read what I had loaded. Everytime I turned on my computer it told me I had improperly ejected a USB drive when I hadn’t tried to eject it at all. Thats the whole point of this device, you leave it in. Bottom line: it fit very nicely into the SD slot on my computer but it didn’t work at all.
Works great, fits just a little bit hanging out for it to mount, but if you want it flush you can shove it in all the way.Make sure you use a swiss army knife or something similar to remove it if its is completely flush to the machine; You’ll break your finger nail trying to take this thing out if you have it mounted flush to your computer, but overall its great for a clean looking backup/extra space solution on your Macbook. Also - macbook failed to mount this microSD card adapter when I initially inserted it. I took a compressed air duster to the port on my Macbook, and cleaned this adapter with a clean microfiber cloth and some glass cleaner solution. Mounted perfectly fine after this.
Wife wants a “hyperdrive” for her macbook pro. As a PC guy I don’t even know what that is so I went to Amazon to find out. While searching on the Amazon I found this micro SD card adapter I believe is the same thing but $5 cheaper than the hyperdrive.so I ordered this one and it works very well on my wife’s macbook pro. As you can see from the pictures it does not stick out like a standard SD card, and the aluminum facing looks nice. To me it is still expensive for a “micro SD card adapter”, but DW said she is happy that this device ONLY costs $24.99. To tell you the truth I will only pay $4.99 for this adapter, but I am willing to pay another $20 just to make my wife happy.
Got this for my 2010 MacBook Pro. Even though I don’t really need the space, It’s nice having the option. It covers the SD card reader port well, runs flush with MacBook, and looks like it belongs there. It won’t fall out. Taking it out is easy as it has a nice little groove that you can hook your nail into. If you’re looking to expand your laptops memory but don’t want to buy a larger hard drive or secondary hard drive, this is a great option.
Unfortunately, for some reason the adapter has a tendency to either not connect or unintentionally disconnect, which is problematic when using it as my primary storage drive from all my photos and music. it’s a great concept, but the connection between the adapter and the SD Card slot are not 100% stable.
good product. I dont have any problem with this yet. i use this to keep all my school documents and work documents. haven’t had any technical problem.
Excelent product!!
I have a couple of these in my various MacBooks and they work great…. IF they are the orange HYPER DRIVE ones. If you receive the aluminum BaseQi, forget it…
THIS IS so needed with the laptop. LOVE IT.
This product reads my micro SD card, however it certainly is NOT flush with the side of my MacBook pro. If it is supposed to stick out, this is not what is advertised.
I have a MacBook Air 13” 2011. I purchased one of this units and a Sandisk card. Files were taking way too long to copy to, or to read from the card.
I am not sure if it works for MacBook Air 13” (mid 2012) (version 10.12.4) or not. It reads zero files but I have numerous files in my SanDisk.
Although it’s made for Macbooks, this microSD card adapter fits the Dell XPS 9560 perfectly.
Good product.
