Good design. Just didn’t work.

It appears to be a good design, but it just doesn’t work.There is a “ball and socket” arrangement with a plastic nut to secure them in place. The trouble is that the nut is too large to allow it to be assembled. See photos. - if the nut were shorted assembly would be possible. Hopefully the manufacturer will square this away or they’re going to have every one returned.As you can see, with the nut in place you can not insert the ball in the socket all the way and therefor you can’t tighten the nut.From what I see, it’s well made but is not going to hold a phone with the weight of the iPhone Plus or similar without drooping.I contacted the seller and was given a prompt refund so no complaints there.

Needing replacement piece!

Needing a replacement for the back clasp! It won’t clamp down all the way. It looks like it was bent or something. I don’t want to return it, just want a back screw-on piece that works! You can see from the pictures which were taken when it was closed, that the end pieces don’t even touch!

Good but not perfect.

So let’s start with the bad, this thing does block your air vent making it virtually unusable, the range of motion can also be hampered by the air vent based on how sturdy the fins are held in place, i.e. If the fins move easily, so will this device which can affect the viewing angle.Now let’s move onto the good. The ball swivel can be adjusted to increase/decrease tension for extra sturdiness if required, the fact that it uses a ball swivel gives you virtually limitless options for positioning your phone (depending on the phones size), the mechanism to realease/clamp down on the phone is very easy to use, the a/c keeps your phone cool for those long trips (if you live in cold climates and have the heat on consider turning that vent off if you can to avoid overheating your phone). I’ve had 0 issues with this holding my phone in place even when inverted. Both my wife and I have one (we purchased hers first and tested it for a week before I bought mine) we both have iPhone 7s and leave them in their cases.

Grips bend easily so they won’t hold on to vents. Cheap plastic junk, waste of time.

I ordered two of these, one for me, one for my wife. We drive a 2014 Honda Odyssey and a 2107 Honda Civic, pretty standard cars/vents.Within a couple days, the clamp on the one I had bent outwards like a duck bill so that it wound not grip the vent louver. I thought maybe it was a fluke but within a couple weeks, the same thing happened to the one my wife had. I returned them both in the end. Then Amazon said I only returned one because I put them in the same box, so then I had to straighten that out. It wasn’t much of a problem, but overall it just added to what a waste of time these pieces of junk were. I’m attaching a picture I took of the clamps for both mounts. One is opened the other is “closed” so you can see the open-mouth duckbill thing it does.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Does not work at all! Constantly falls. Tried using it for two weeks and got so frustrated I threw it away. Do not waste your money.

Returned immediately

The device didn’t work for my car, and I have a legacy with horizontal vents. The concept was nice but just didn’t work.

Problems with using it over time

I purchased this after other failures much like a second marriage-the triumph of hope over experience. There was no documentation and the mount kept falling off. I finally figured out that the lever used to pinch worked differently depending upon which way it was moved from vertical to horizontal. Facing the unit, flipping counter clockwise results in a tighter pinch. Having documentation would have helped a lot.Second, is that no matter how it is attached to the vent, it comes off, usually at the most inconvenient times. I have considered adding masking tape but believe that would only delay such problems.So this is better than some and yet fails to be totally satisfactory, hence the 3 star rating. Truth be told the physics of this approach are doomed. I may be the least worst.

Can’t trust the weak clamp

The holder is a good idea but the clamp is not strong enough. I would give it 5 stars if it were to strongly hold in place. You can’t trust it as it currently stands.

It fits one out of my two vehicles. On my 2005 Honda Civic, the air vent slots are too small, so I can’t even insert it into the vent. No other places will work on my Civic.
