Got this to use in the RV while doing lots of photography. Needed to power my 17 inch Samsung i7 laptop, with a 220 watt power supply. This unit did very well while either running the laptop (batteries fully charged) or charging the batteries in the laptop (computer off). If I had run the laptop batteries down and was doing serious work editing or moving photos between drives, the inverter would cut off, and I would have to toggle the power switch on the back of the inverter to start it up again. I eventually got used to charging my laptop up fully before using it to with the inverter, and the inverter was able to keep the laptop running without a hitch. It may have been an issue with the 12 volt supply circuit. I didn’t run the inverter on a known high amperage 12 volt circuit in the RV, so I am not deducting a star for that. There is a quiet fan that is always on when the switch in the back is turned on. It is quiet enough that I was easily able to sleep with the fan running in very quiet campsites. The volume and pitch of the fan are unobtrusive. As others have noted, the USB ports are always powered if the inverter is plugged into the 12 volt supply, independent of the position of the power switch on the back. I like this very much, since I can charge my iPhone or Kindle with the fan turned off if I am not using the 110 volt section.A really excellent value!
I like it! I bought this to power a TV and IPTV box in my RV without running the generator, about a 180w load. The fan is audible, but barely noticeable in anything other than a library-like setting. Build quality seems perfectly reasonable for the price. I’d recommend it for any application where it’ll put out enough power. In the instructions, Bestek recommends not using a cigar lighter outlet for loads over 150w. At my current draw, I did not blow the outlet fuse, nor did the 12v wire seem warmer than room temp. Other users who choose to ignore the manual should have spare fuses available, and check the wire temperature during use to prevent unwanted drama.
Bought this to use for blowing up the air mattress while camping at non electrical sites. Used this past weekend without any issues. Will update this review if we have any issues but for now would recommend
Works fine, like the two outlets and USB plugs, this is a good value. However I gave it three stars as I feel these are important points. Two issues- this is described as “ultra silent cooling fan ” Though It’s not loud, it is definitely not silent. I could easily hear it above the car noise, in fact I thought at first the sound was from the car ventilation. And the fan came on just using the USB ports, very little power draw, I could understand it if came on with a real power load, even 10 watts on AC, but we’re talking charging a phone. All plastic construction- seems OK, but not sure how well it will hold up stored in a car.
This power inverter was a life saver on our last long trip. Our son has a portable xbox system which we were able to plug into the lighter outlet with the inverter . It made a 10 hour ride great for everyone…no over-heating like other units we have purchased. Thanks for a great little unit.
This is a good a fairly priced 300W unit.I like that it is plastic casing, which lends itself better for boating and camping use. No sharp edges and doesn’t scratch or mark anything. It is very light and convenient for my use. I like that the cord is built in, as I would never connect this directly to a battery in my use.The voltage is reasonably close to 110VAC, and the unit provides adequate power without getting hot. The biggest load I have put on it is an air mattress pump, which is rated for 165W. The unit powers it perfectly and does not get hot at all even after 5 minutes of continuous use. There is a built in fan that runs all the time when the unit is switch on. It is quiet, but may annoy some in a very quiet environment. It is not a con for my use.The USB ports work, however, I prefer to use the OEM charging cubes for my electronics. The USB ports will work in a pinch, and means you got to pack one less thing.I would buy this again.
After 2 months of light uses, it stopped working and blew both of my car’s fuses!update 10⁄16:the vendor sent a replacement unit. very good service
We used this on a 3 thousand mile Road trip and it worked great. we used 1 outlet to and both USBs the entire trip and it kept our devices powered without any issues. My only complaint might be that the cord could be a bit longer. We have a 2015 Honda Odyssey which only as the DC power in the front center console which means that devices connected to the headrests of the middle seats had a bit of a tight stretch to stay connected. This can easily be resolved with some planning however.Works quietly and never got too noticeably hot.
Bought 2 of these….Love them. They are GREAT!
Died after a year of essentially no use. Hopefully they help with the warranty but I doubt it thus far.
Great product works well - value for money own 2
If you need to use a message unit for your back while driving because you have arthritis, this is a must for 120 volt application.
Works Great!
About what I expected, but a two-step 60 Hz squarewave is def not suitable for any device requiring ‘clean’ power.
One of the best purchases I made
So far is working fine with my dash cam.
Use is camping, when the power goes out. I have a CPAP that I can’t be without. Power fails, and I crank the ‘ol pickup, and poof!! I’m plugged in and sleeping soundly.
