An impressive design

The fan is not quite as powerful as I had hoped, but it is an impressive design and not too difficult to operate. Delivery was lightning fast. It is part of a thru-house ventilation system and so far [pre-summer] so good.

does the fan work good, yes it does

First of all, does the fan work good, yes it does. The low speed is very quiet which I like. But…. the lights on it are bright enough to light an airport runway so if you have it in the bedroom at night be prepared. Next, every time you turn it on or change the speed it sounds like it’s about to take off like a helicopter and then will adjust down, annoying to say the least. And last, if your spouse is sleeping and you want to change anything on the fan it has a beep loud enough to wake my daughter in the next room. Another annoying feature. So if you need it for daytime normal use you should be good to go, but if you want to use it at night you may want to consider something else.

design flaw

the bad thing about this is when you mount it onto your window, the hard plastic extension plate, the pullout collapsible extension plate, and also the small square opening for the electrical cord all have a crevice that bugs can come in through. i had to stick 5 pieces of cardboard into these spaces… 3mm opening on left and 3mm opening on right side of the the hard plastic extension plate. 3mm opening on left and 3mm opening on right side of the the pullout collapsible extension plate. and 2cm square opening for the electrical cord.the design should have made them to better fit into sliding windows without the need for extra custom modifications. This model would be even better if they made filter screen attachments for when the unit is off, so bugs cant come in.the worse design flaw is this is a dumb automatic. the thermostat only powers on or off and totally ignores power settings. they way it should be is if temperature is very hot, the fan should auto high power, and if temperature low at night, the fan should auto low power.

Works okay so far

Nice having a reversible fan with a remote control. I was leary about getting another Bionaire since the one I bought last year basically got stuck in one speed and the remote no longer works. Maybe I’ll have better luck with this one. It’s fairly quiet even when cranked all the way up but I wish it pushed a higher volume of air.

Works well

Am happy with how it cools the room. Really helps with overall airflow. We attached screen material to keep bugs out. Was hard to get it to fit our window correctly. Had to adjust with packing tape. The cord at the bottom made it hard to fit into the window. Safety locks lock too quickly and are less than user friendly.

This fan is wonderful. It has lasted years and I like how you can set it to turn on when it gets to a certain temperature and pick to blow hot air out or cool air in or exchange- it’s great. I bought it for a rental unit with a bathroom that didn’t have a fan but I’ve used it now in several small apartments and it’s so nice that it doesn’t take up floor space. Worth every penny.

After reading reviews about this being a more reliable model than the more recent model, we ordered two. Our windows are “standard” width (I believe around 29”) and using the included extender they fit perfectly. Used in our toddlers’ rooms with both thermostat and manual “high/med/low” settings and they were quiet enough to never disturb them while they slept. Seemed to do a very good job. Our younger daughter’s room only has one window and is a small room so we use the exchange with good results. Our older daughter’s room has two windows and is a larger room so we can use either the thermostat or manual settings with success. Easy to use, secure in windows, effective, quiet.

Bought 2, one was broken. Other one works as advertised. Just wish it also came with a timer feature to have it shut off during the day.

Great Deal

Had a hard time finding a decent window fan at local stores. Ordered this fan and was extremely satisfied with it. Better than any I have owned previously.

Lasted three years but then the fuse blew and now it’s possessed.

The fan was solid for 3 years but like many reviewers have complained about, the fuse in the power cord blew.

Affordable alternative to A/C

It is not a replacement for an A/C, but it has worked incredibly well for my in my small room during Boston’s hot summers. No more sleepless nights holding an ice pack!
