Product Reviews

bad PWR USB port

This is an average review as 1 of the 2 recently ordered kits has a defective PWR usb port. Here’s the deal - I’ve got a pile of RPi 1, 3, and ZeroWs [i’m not completely new to the hardware and use of the Pis]. I love the hardware and appreciate the little kits CanaKit is putting together, as they’re one of the few vendors that (1) has them in stock and (2) are available through Amazon Prime. I’d be happier if they’d just sell the board or board+case w/o adding on extra price for the mediocre power supply. The board alone should be $100 prime subscription for? ;) ) I bought another order of 2x of these kits to further build out one of my projects. Seems that one of the boards will not power up on the PWR USB (power only, no data connections) port. I tried with a few different 2.4A USB wall blocks; different cables. Re-flashed my microSD card in case the boot image was bad. Plugged the power cable into the standard USB port (data+power). The PI booted up! Looks like the PWR USB port is not wired correctly or the circuitry connected to it is bad. will be returningREAD MORE

Ok, but there are better kits for your money

As other reviewers have noted, the included 1.0 amp power supply is less than the minimum recommended 1.2 amp. It seems to work fine, but the kit as a whole gets 3 stars from me because of it. The Pi Zero W is 5 stars, the case is 4 (I find it ugly). For the same price, you can buy the Vilros kit with a 2.5 amp power supply, a nicer looking case, and a heat sink.READ MORE

Works great and the case is good quality

Beware. If you want to use the pie Zero you need to have a micro USB to usb adaptor in order to plug in a keyboard and mouse. I had to wait a few days before I could use mine. Works great and the case is good quality. Would buy again.READ MORE

Pretty Sweet

I have to say I was miffed at having to buy this kit in order to get my hands on a RPi 0 without paying the exaggeratedly expensive shipping price on their website. But that said, the kit is pretty sweet. I love the tiny case!READ MORE

<Brick, paperweight.

Needs better power supply.

Good deal for the kit but the power supply is a little small…. I’d probably go a different route next time to get at least the 2 amp power supply.
