I first played this game many years ago when it was a free, PC download. I decided to get this for the great cover art but was surprised to find some extras. Notably, a mini CD that contains the game’s soundtrack and a full-color, illustrated game manual with tips and instructions that made me reminiscent of NES game manuals. I think this is well worth the price and if you’ve never played Cave Story–now’s the time!
Still a great game
Cave Story + is seriously a good game. It’s side scrolling platforming at its best. This version should be the definitive version of Cave Story. The new visuals for Switch are outstanding. It has different styles of the soundtrack to choose from. The game controls like a dream. My only reason for a 4 star review is that this is my 3 version of the game on Nintendo systems and there really isn’t anything new in the content. Players who have played before might want to pass even though I would recommend giving it one more go. If you have never played before I would say it’s a definite pick up. I also recommend Cartridge over a digital download as they cost the same anyway. You can get some trade in value for your cartridge or save it as a collectable.
This is new nostalgia!
At first I was a little frustrated by the controls for Cave Story+, but after consulting the included instruction manual, I was much more comfortable after just a few minutes. The gameplay truly is like a combination of classic Metroid and Castlevania with a little bit of classic mMega Man for good measure! And even playing on easy this game is challenging. But overall I like Cave Story+, and I look forward to paying it for a good while. So if you’re looking for a step back to a more classic side scrolling platformer, then look no further! This is what you’re looking for!
good service and enjoyable game
Excellent game, i wouldn’t buy something like issac rebirth, but this one is really fun, game gets hard as you progress, i never get to play this game before, in a lot of pc’s and consoles i got across the years, so i decide to go with with a physical release because Nintendo cannot cloud save and sync across devices, so this looks like the best bet, it includes a manual (like old times) so give it a try if you are looking to play some retro adventure in your switch, i also got blaster master zero and mighty but this one is more enjoyable.
A lot of fun
It only took me 10 minutes to fall in love with this game. I’m not going to write a true review but I will say if you like metroid or castlevania type games this is for you. Also an appreciation for retro style games will pull you in.

This game is lots of fun. It’s a 2d side acroller. Very reminiscent of original Nintendo NES games. It’s allot of fun, has a good story, and great music as well. This physical edition actually has a manual with great artwork and a mini cd. Couldn’t be happier with my purchase!

I’m enjoying it, my first nicalis game..the prime discount was nice. came with a tiny CD. the music is pretty fun. I’m finding it challenging but I’m also not used to these types of games. As with other reviewers, I agree you might as well get the physical copy of this one if you want it.
A classic that comes to fills the gap of the current short catalog of Nintendo Switch
This is one of my favourite games. The original version is free to play on PC but the “plus” version worth’s the price. Excelent soundtrack, great game play and terrific narrative.I feel a little harder than in other versions of the game the movement of the character, sometimes feel harder to make precise jumping on this version but in general the game is what I expected.

Awesome game, well worth the price
Awesome little game, you get some extra goodies in the package as well. I found the music, art style, and gameplay to be great. It will be fun once co-op is up as well.
