Style:80 Brass Telescope Ambassador80AZ Brass Refractor Telescope.80mm diameter refractor 800mm focal length. 6x30 finderscope with fully coated lenses
We have had this set up for 2 week at our new Ocean house. The optics are average but the problem we have is with the tripod it is very unstable. It has fallen a couple of times because the locks on the leg extensions get loose and the leg or legs collapse. We have tried tightening the screw adjustment with pliers and they still loosen. Last time it bent the telescope. Not happy
The scope is beautiful with fairly good optics for 80mm. The stand is really nice, but could use an engineering upgrade to make the scope more portable, as the accessory tray is difficult to remove in order to close the legs, and makes the process of moving the scope much more difficult than it should be. Other than that, the instrument itself and the mount is finely crafted.
Bought it for my daughter as a high school graduation present. She is attending college studying physics, math, and astronomy. I chose this one, not so much for its functionality, rather for its classic beauty. I thought about buying one more modern and field functional but realized that would be obsolete as technology improved. This one is very functional with an artistic look back in astronomy. Something she would be proud to display later in life. I purchased the complete lens and filter kit which was a nice addition.
The brass celestron came fast, was well packaged, and was easy to assemble. The finish and appearance is excellent. The optics are very nice. For terrestrial viewing it is excellent. I use it to watch boats from my patio and I can see very well.
ordered for $450 as a amazon warehouse product, not a mark on it and could not tell it was not brand new. Very good optics, clear and crisp. Very stable tripod. It’s pretty heavy but sure looks great in a room. Would like more power but you could not expect more for an 80mm. I can tell the species of fish the boats are catching at about 1 mile away. Cruise ship fills in half the viewing field at about 10 miles away. Recommend.
Beautiful instrument! High quality and easy assembly. Note power in specs – for casual amateur viewing as opposed to high power scientific use. Exactly what I wanted.
This piece is beautifully crafted. It’s an attraction to visitors and adds a touch of elegance to the viewing area.
Just what was wanted, thank you. Our Son and his new wife were so thrilled with this. We were not able to purchase this in New Zealand
It’s so nice
Love it! Works great!
I already had a variety of astronomical scopes, ranging from an ED 80 up to an 11-inch SCT and 16-inch Newtonian.
