Marvelous choice amongst the myriad of monoculars!

Marvelous choice amongst the myriad of monoculars! The rubber lens caps dangle instead of dropping to the ground when in a hurry to see a bird or plane. The monocular is comfortable to hold and not too heavy. I discovered my kitchen is facing south-east when bird watching today using the compass. The 8x magnification is as close as I want to get to avoid too much shake, and the field of view generous. I don’t see a tripod mount, but I will carry this to the opera or hiking, so that’s a moot point. Besides, I could likely buy a strap mount to attach the monocular to a tripod if necessary. The green is a tasteful deep green, the body feels rubberized, the eyepiece rubber cup feels comfortable, and the non-battery compass and other readings are easy to see by making sure the white dot is facing upwards to let in the light. I found that keeping both eyes open, relaxing them, and adjusting the focus, avoids eye strain. The distant power poles at the top of a distant mountain are close and detailed, yet by adjusting the focus, I can see individual leaves and fruit clear across the yard, see detailed grains of wood of the fence across the yard, and see birds down to feather details. The Celestron monocular waist case with button-snap belt band attachment (similar to the one I use to hold my iPhone 7) is very nice. Nice cleaning cloth and detailed users manual. Everything is in order and well thought out and designed. The sealed Celestronbox showed it was never used. The quality is impeccable. If I could give it ten stars, I would!

Very nice

Ever since I was kid, I wanted a pair of binoculars. But I did a bit of research on the web and ended up with this amazing monocular. You can’t beat the price. View is very clear, with or without my glasses on. I like the folding eye cup feature, it helps to accommodate my glasses and it has great focus. Internal compass tells the direction of your target based on your possition (north, south, east, west). It has good lense covers and fits nicely in my hand. The reticle (range finder) is also a plus (I need a little practice with this). Might be a bit large for some people due to the 42mm lense but still very portable. The cord it came with to help hold it aroud your neck is very cheap so is the case. I’ll be replacing the cord very soon. The case on the other hand helps keep it from the elements but doesn’t seem very shock proof. If you need more details on the product, you can go to the manufacture website and download a manual to get more info. Plus the od green is just cool. All in all this is great buy.

Will spend a little more money for something better quality.

Nice wide angle. Nice compass if you want it in mils instead of degrees. My major complaint was that the focus adjusting function was so hard to turn and sticky (instead of a nice turn it jerks and jumps) that it is hard to hold it on an object and focus. I returned it. Will spend a little more money for something better quality.

This is a very good product.

Optics are very good presenting very sharp, clear images, but less bright that one should expect from an 8x42. Minimum focus distance is indeed a measured 10 meters; sufficient to be able to score 10 meter air targets from the line. I have not checked the compass but it appears to function consistently. On the serious plus side, it is sturdy and built like a tank. I’ve only been out in the rain with it once but there were no apparent ill effects. Overall, I would recommend it as a very well built monocular. The belt case is OK but the lanyard it comes with is an absurdity, if for no other reason than the weight of the monocular and the thinness of the lanyard (it’s smaller in diameter than a shoelace.) I remedied that situation with a paracord duck call lanyard - just Google it. This makes the monocular so very much, much more comfortable to carry and have available for use.

It was fine for that

I originally bought this for orienteering in the desert. It was fine for that. It’s very durable, but it’s a big piece of glass and a bit heavy if you’re concerned about packweight. The angular scale, or rangefinder, is great for determining distance or size, as long as you know one of the two. Because it’s such a big lens, it makes for a great stargazing monocular. I live in the city, and there are very few visible stars to the naked eye, but when I point this at one of the visible stars, suddenly dozens more show up in the field. It’s very clear and bright.I give it five stars, but I do wish it had an inclinometer and I do wish it was in degrees rather than mils.Back to the backpacking issue, I do have to mention that I’m always watching my pack weight, but I still pack this monocular every time, and it always comes in handy.

Nice monocular for all kinds of activities .

I got this monocular cavalry celestron yesterday and let me tell you that i am impressed by the quality of it. The range finder is nice and the compass is a plus. The quality of the optic is very high. The only reason why I didn’t give it 5 start is because it doesn’t have a clip to attached to your belt or your backpack also it doesn’t have a internal light to used the compass or the range finder at night. Other than that it is a nice monocular.PS. It is made in china….

Five Stars

Four Stars

Looks fine - have not really used it yet

Four Stars

Excellent!!

Excellent for I wanted for my Tactical Vest

I’m ex military, so this Cavalry model fit the bill for me. I’m use to working in Mil’s so the directions on the compass are not new for me either.
