I purchased this mount as a alternative to sticking the suction mount onto the windshield or dashboard. This mount is a far better solution. The blades that fit into the CD slot are rubberized so once it’s in place and tightened down, it does not move. So far, I’ve had no problems with the mount loosening over time. The GPS device itself doesn’t vibrate or move as you’re driving, and once set at the proper viewing angle, stays in place quite well. See the photos attached of the mount installed in my 2014 Ford Focus and with my nuvi 255W attached. I had to install the mount “upside down” as the dash in my car slopes away towards the CD slot. There’s plenty of clearance all around so that the GPS can be viewed at any angle. I’d highly recommend this mount.
I was skeptical about this but it is the best mount I have ever had. Fits securely in my Tundra, does not bounce, and places the GPS in a great location. No suction cup marks to worry about or things sliding across the dash.
I have tried this gadget in two cars and find that it works pretty well. The connection ball holds my Garmin nuvi 2460 very securely. In my 2008 Volvo 70V, it fits best with the tightening screw downwards, while in my 2013 Hyundai Azera, the screw needs to be on the top to hold it securely - and that is even a little shaky because the CD slot opening is cut in further on the top edge than the bottom. I have driven over railroad tracks, and it stays in place. In the Azera, it gets a little in the way of some control buttons, but it will work. I have built in navigation on the Azera but it is crap, and the data is outdated already.
Very nice mount. Holds very securely in CD player slot. Pay attention to caution about over-tightening, as this could easily cause damage to CD player if over-tightened. Depending on where your CD slot is located, part of your sound system display may be blocked by a GPS unit mounted on this. Suggestion for improvement would be for the arm that goes to the ball-mount to be adjustable, either via a goose-neck or another ball-joint at the base of the arm. . My CD slot is at the very top of my system, and GPS still blocks the top third of my system display. I plan on buying & cannibalizing another cheap mounting bracket to make a short extension & add another point of articulation so my GPS can be adjusted out of the way of the sound system display.
This is a great idea, but unfortunately, it didn’t work for my application. Easy to set-up and remove, puts GPS in a great location. It does tend to bounce and move when driving, a little more than I liked or wanted. If you are going to use this for a rental car then this would be fine if you are planning on using this in a more permanent situation, them I would look for something else.
If you don’t use your CD player, and you’re tired of the suction cup mount falling off your windshield, like I was, you’ll probably like this month a lot. The placement in the middle of the dash takes a little getting used to compared to what you may like about windshield height, and it may obscure some of the radio display, but the mount is solid once you tighten the adjusting screw. Not entirely vibration-free compared to the suction cup, but no more having to pick up my GPS from the floor of the car. (My wife’s Garmin’s charging socket was eventually broken by too many falls with the cable attached (charges by USB to computer or AC adapter but won’t charge by car cable).
After reading some of the less than 5 star reviews I thought this holder might be too cheap. I still ordered it and for $12, I was amazed at the quality. It fits well in my 2011 Honda CRV connected to a Garmin nuvi2597LMT (5 inch screen). It holds the GPS firmly and in a great driver viewing position. The unit again is not flimsy as stated in some reviews and the ball fits perfectly and does not change position while driving. It comes with some spacers if the CD changer slot is too wide but in my case they are not needed. Again as stated, do not over tighten the mount - I tug on the unit from time to time and it has never loosened. There is very little vibration. The charger cord needed to be connected for traffic updates fits well and does not interfere with the GPS positioning, as stated in another review. The radio dial is somewhat blocked but both the radio tuning and using the CD player are accessible. Of course, a new CD cannot be inserted while the unit is mounted but with six CDs and a USB slot I have many hours of good music available to me.By the way the Garmin nuvi2597LMT is amazing. My wife loves it - she hated our older Tom-Tom. The traffic reporting and the suggestion of an alternate route save me well over an hour in Houston. I purchased the Garmin at Best Buy and even with a “deal” it was $15 more than Amazon. Love Amazon.
SO THRILLED with this purchase! We love our Garmins and have one in each car–they’re so much better than the cell phone and car navigators! We’ve had the bean bag suction cup mounts on the dash for years and I’m sick of it popping off every day and crashing to the floor. Ran across one of these of a different brand on Woot and decided to do some research. This brand had good reviews (the one on woot was a better price, but it didn’t have very good reviews), so I decided to give it a try. It’s amazing! We’ve got old Garmins (1450) and a 2008 Prius and Nissan Titan. Fits both perfectly–securely. I was kind of nervous about breaking the CD loader, but it’s really not an issue now that I see it and have it installed. Bought a second for the other vehicle and we’re loving them! :) Just wish I could find one for a cassette player mount for our van! hahah :) Get this one. You’ll be pleased!
works well and lower than if i had it on the windshield or up on the dash. that is a must for me as I live in FL so i don’t want my Garmin getting baked.
Fits my Sonata CD slot well. Holds relatively heavy devices like Galaxy S7 phone and Garmin GPS reasonably well with tolerable vibration while driving.
Solid though in use the Garmin covers my radio’s screen and therefore my backup camera is useless
nice
It is exactly what it looks like. Does the job, holds up my Garmin.Who still uses CDs anyways…?

Great way to secure my GPS. or phone or whatever I need
Works well.
If you don’t care or don’t use the CD player in your vehicle, this is a great productlike other reviews, the ball is slightly looser then my MFG GPS bracket but still works…
