Comes with lid
The Timberline Mug is a mountain classic with twin-wall thermal construction that will keep hot and cold liquids at the right temperature for hours. This mug is made of heavy duty stainless steel and will provide many years of service.
There are about a hundred similar mugs on the market, and there are about 20 of them on Amazon. All slightly different sizes, descriptions, etcetera. If you have six tabs open with stainless mugs, trying to figure out which one to get - it’s this one.I use it every morning for coffee, and also for camping. It’s light, durable, and as long as you’re not trying to pound tent pegs with it, it’ll hold up indefinitely. One thing to note: Since it’s double walled, it is not suitable for direct heat. In other words, don’t try to cook in it, or heat your coffee or tea back up by putting it on the coals or the burner. You’ll end up with a very hot cup and not much else. The lip is very nicely shaped, the handle is attached well, and there are no gaps, ridges, or machining marks. The bottom doesn’t pop out like a jam jar lid when the beverage is too hot, and it’s big enough to hold a decent amount of beverage (unlike the similar 10 ounce mugs)It’s also the perfect size to hold a Finum Brewing Basket, medium , black (or any differently branded versions) without the basket falling in.I won’t comment on the lid, and the rating does not reflect the lid positively or negatively - I don’t use it, and don’t intend to. It seems to hold OK, but the o-ring is awfully thin. I have suspicions about its long term durability. I also wouldn’t trust it to stop much more than a gentle slosh. It’s certainly not going to hold a full mug if you tip it upside-down.
Bought this as it was most similar I could find to what I already had 3 of, but needed a 4th, and couldn’t find my original brand. When it arrived, it felt light and thin and I thought I’d be disappointed. It’s smaller overall than what I have, yet holds the same amount of water (even more reason I thought it wouldn’t do as well) Decided to do an unscientific test of it. I boiled the kettle and filled both mugs and put the lids on. Set the timer for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, my old one had the water temperature at 155 degrees. Tested this baby, and it was 173 degrees! Obviously the double wall insulation on this is better than that on my other one. So I decided to weigh them to see what I gained in weight advantage. My old was 286 grams/10.09 oz. This one is 155 grams/6.77 oz. Nearly a quarter pound lighter! As any backpacker, hiker, or long range hunter knows, those ounces add up fast! Great buy all around, and I am considering replacing my other 3 with new ones!
Looking for an insulated mug to replace my old ceramic so it would hold the heat better. I ordered this mug and the Avito barrel shaped mugs from Amazon to compare. Both had good ratings. To my eye this mug looks better. It is shinier and I prefer the straight sides. I didn’t mind the “Chinook” logo on the side, because it was subtle. However the size of the handle is awkward for holding, not comfortable for me. I did a test on heat retention between the two. The Avito did better, but just by a few degrees, so I feel they are kind of equivalent. The outside of this mug got noticeably hotter than the Avito. I will keep this, but probably order more of the Avito, mostly because of the more comfortable handle and the cooler feel to the outside. This mug does a nice job to keep your coffe hot, but I wanted to like this better.
The mug is very well insulated. I like the size and feel. It’s fairly light weight. The finish is bright stainless. The mug is a good size to take with you to a restaurant if you want a cup that will keep your coffee warm throughout the whole meal. The center of the lid rotates to open/close the drinking and vent holes, but be aware it is not designed to seal tightly. If it tips over a few drops will spill out.The lid presses on top securely and the silicone rubber seal holds it in place nicely. With a little modification you can separate the lid into two pieces for cleaning, as described in the answered FAQ answer for this product.
Good price, right size at 15 oz. Don’t buy a 10 oz. cup of anything–unless you’re practicing your Japanese tea ceremony–just a tad small for coffee.
Well, in my honest opinion, I don’t think this is a $10 - $12 mug. It should have been like $5 - $6. The construction is a little iffy. The seam around the top, joining the walls of the mug, is rather rough looking. It’s fine to drink from, but it’s not what I would call quality.I bought this because I wanted something that would keep my coffee warmer longer than an open-top ceramic mug. This is apparently not that mug. Coffee gets cold fast. The ceramic coffee mug actually seems to hold the heat better. What I did find, however, is that I like it when I am going out the door and want to bring my cup of coffee with me and not screw around with my Zojirushi travel mug/thermos. If I don’t care to keep it hot for very long, this mug is pretty handy. The lid is NOT leak proof, but it does do a good enough job at keeping the coffee in that it works fine in the cup holder of my truck and while drinking from it.So, if you are looking for something to keep your coffee hot for very long, this isn’t it. It’s overpriced, imo, but I have actually found it useful for bopping out the door with my coffee in a hurry.
very nice coffee cup. would be a 5 star if the handle was a larger diameter.
Very good product, but I wish it had come with anextra lid …. it didn’t take me long to lose the lid ….but that was MY fault.
keeps coffee hot longer
Does not keep coffee hot like I expected. Sides of cup get very warm.
Would LOVE to have one of these mugs in a larger size.
I love my cup. It’s like my own “baby cup”. LOL Mine’s for coffee. I tossed the plastic lid though.
Keeps drinks cold / hot for a long time.
My husband needed a mug for work, honestly he loves this mug so much I think I may have to get him one just for the house…father’s day gift perhaps?
This is my daily office coffee mug. I purchased it in large part because if you’re anything like me, you drink 97% of your coffee every day and leave 3% of the dregs in the bottom…
