First thing to know about cleaning vinyl records is that playing a dirty record will damage the vinyl and negatively affect the sound quality. Maintaining clean records will preserve not only the life of your LPs but also the life of your record player. Here’s a few tips for cleaning:
• If your record is visibly dusty, do not contaminate your brush by dry dusting. You will harm both brush and record. Wet clean your record first.
• To use your carbon fiber brush, spin record on turntable and lightly mist brush with spray cleaner. Place brush at a 90 degree angle on the record. With light pressure on the brush, allow record to rotate a few times and then slowly slide brush towards you. Lift brush straight up. Rotate brush bristles back and forth against underside of handle to clear the dust from the fibers.
• Dry dusting your records with a carbon fiber brush before and after play is the best way to keep your records clean and sounding great.
• Do not touch/pull on bristles of carbon fiber brush. Incorrect use may cause bristles to shed.
• Always remove surface debris and dust before any deep clean.
• New records are not necessarily clean records. Clean your records before the first play.
• Less friction is better. Be gentle with your albums.
• A turntable or stylus in bad shape will damage your record. Keep your stylus clean in between records by using a stylus brush. Always brush cartridge back to front, never side to side or front to back.
Very gentle & effective…I have been using a “Discwasher” brand wand since 1976…I have a turntable up & downstairs & got tired of moving it & finally broke down & purchased this 2nd wand…I have used it on ~25 albums since purchase (some of mine which are pristine & some of my Dad’s, which are far from that.)…I would purchase it again.
This record cleaning brush is a superb design! Using this brush is very intuitive; it effectively pulled dust from the surface of my vinyl records by just holding it over the rotating platter. You clean the brush by rotating the bristles through the brush’s own holder which has a built in ledge that scrapes the dust from the bristles. The spray cleaner comes out in a fine mist which is perfect. Finally, the brush stores compactly. I am very happy with this purchase!
does a great job—–I’ve used the old disc washer velvet pads and was skeptical of a brush—-but after seeing how the soft bristles get in the grooves and how you flip the brushes to clean the off it’s wonderful——-great product
This combination works as advertised, I am a touch disappointed with the brush construction as carbon-graphite fibers occasionally come loose from the brush, and I do NOT use it roughly on my Vinyl.
This is a pretty good record brush. I don’t know what’s in the spray, but it’s helpful. I used it all relatively quickly, but I refilled it with distilled water. That works fine, too. The brush itself is pretty good. I think I’ll replace it with an AudioQuest brush because those have some metal in the handle to help with static discharge.
Provides cleaning of my vintage LP’s and newly acquired. Similar to the brush solution I had some thirty years ago. Does clean into grooves, reduction of cranking noise’s from static and dirt.
Great product. You can realize the difference when you have a vinyl of high quality of record. Otherwise is not the cleaner, if you are earing noises from the channels specifically if the LP’s are from the 50’s or 60’s.
So far, it’s been doing a wonderful job cleaning my used vinyls.
Works great! Highly reccomended!
It does the job, but would be more efficient if it had more brussels
Seems to work great. No problems so far.
Very easy to use, and it really improved the sound quality of even some of my older records from my Dad’s collection!
Pretty good
Highly recommend! I just purchased several vintage albums and it is working great!
Excellent!
Love it.
I like the brush. Have to manually straighten out the hairs sometimes, but much higher quality than my previous brushes, a must buy for a large record collection or older records.
