The type of cable matters after all

When I tried unsuccessfully to connect my new Canon to the computer, the USB cable I was using - because it fit - wouldn’t make the transfer of pics and video. Looking on line for a solution, I discovered that others experienced the same problem. The advice was to use a cable made specifically for the Canon. I did it and it worked!
