Great bypass for the Pioneer AVH-X5800BHS

This item worked perfectly on my Pioneer AVH-X5800BHS. Unfortunately with this unit you can’t simply ground the parking brake wire or leave it connected to nothing (oh the good old days!). Also, I was unsure if the other bypasses being sold on Amazon were compatible with this newer headunit as Pioneer keeps changing the security on them.I was unsure if you are allowed to cut/shorten the cables included with the bypass (and shorten the long parking brake wire on the Pioneer), so I just zip electrical taped the excess cable. To install you simply just connect three types of wires; the remote turn-on (blue wire but do not get this wire confused with the Pioneer antenna power wire that is also blue) from the Pioneer to the car harness (if equipped in your car) and bypass, the ground wire (black wire) from the Pioneer to the car harness and bypass, and finally the parking brake wire (green wire) from the Pioneer to the bypass ONLY. I used a heat shrink butt connector for all three wires. For the remote turn-on and ground wires I used one butt connector on each type to crimp one wire to two wires on the other side and this did not cause any problems.Now for the actual review this bypass works perfect. I don’t watch videos while driving, however, I do not feel the need to pull my parking brake to setup a phone, change settings, etc. Also, the install is much easier on the Pioneer head unit, because you don’t have to connect the parking brake wire. So far I have had this bypass for a month and a half and it has not caused any issues or stopped working. Get one for your Pioneer AVH-X5800BHS today!

Make sure the ground wire gets a good ground

It worked as advertised. Watched a couple of ‘Tube videos and read up on it and it worked fine.If it doesn’t work and your sure it’s advertised for your model radio, then make sure the wire is grounded good. I would have bet money mine was grounded great with all the metal it was attached to, but when it didn’t work I checked the ground area where I had it with a circuit tester and it wasn’t grounding. Had to find another area entirely to get a real ground.I really don’t know if it glows or not.

Does just what it says it will…

Perfect. It took me less than 5 minutes to wire in, and it works perfectly. I spent more time taking the radio out and putting it back in. Once installed I powered up, and BOOM…press OK a time or two, and my apps and DVD functions all work. I don’t know why Pioneer had to make the parking brake interface so hit and miss, but I’m glad this product is available. Save yourself a headache during installation, and just buy one before you even begin. You won’t regret it.
