I highly recommend this to anyone that owns a dremel that it will fit on. It is so much easier on the hands and arms. It’s light weight and super easy to use. My only complaint is that it doesn’t have it’s own carrying/storage container and it won’t fit in the one that came with my dremel. I’ve only had it 24 hours and I have etched everything that isn’t nailed down and filed the dog’s toe nails. I etched my cell phone case, drilled and etched a stone, cut a nylon halter and converted it to a break-away and tried it out on wood. It’s so much easier than holding the whole unit when I am trimming the dog’s nails. I’m telling you… this thing is magic. Below are the photos I took of my projects. I can’t wait to find more stuff to play with tomorrow. I think this is going to be fabulous for making birthday and Christmas presents for friends and family. So far, I haven’t found anything that I don’t like about the flex shaft except that maybe it doesn’t fix dinner.
This is a great accessory. It is not absolutely necessary but if you are using your drill to carve it relieves a lot of the strain. It is about the size of a very thick pen and is very light. It fits the dremel well but is only usable on newer dremel models where the top of the dremel can be unscrewed (not the collate- the top of the drill). The end screws onto the drill and you are ready to go. It is made very well and allows you to use the dremel as a carving instrument rather then buying more expensive dedicated systems. I thought the price was cheap for what it does. You may want to consider also buying the SE KL1821 rotary tool holder which lifts the cord out of your way and relieves the weight and strain of dragging a cord behind the drill. Anyone serious about using the dremel as a carving tool should consider buying this.
Nothing beats an authentic Dremel brand product! I shopped around and of course had to get a Dremel brand extension because I know that it will be a quality product! Next, I price shopped and could not beat the (Amazon Prime) price any where else online! This is exactly what I need for my small projects! No cable slippage and the collets always hold the bits firm. I also like the thumb lock press button for changing out bits! The handle i also shaped very comfortably for detail work! Definite recommend to a friend!
I can’t tell any difference from the one I paid much much more for a few years ago. It sure looks like the real one to me, and works just the same. I will see how long it lasts. But for now I am very happy with this product. I use my Dremel a lot, 3 to 4 hours a week. If it lasts me a year I will be happy with it. I say buy one for the price you can’t go wrong. Is it OEM?
Works ok but does get warm/almost hot. Would of given 5 stars except,That right out of the package the plastic collar that tightens to the dremel motor had slid up the shaft and was completely jammed to were it wouldn’t turn. Since I wasn’t sure how it was suppose fit I didn’t realise it was in that condition until I fussed with it for awhile. If you get one and the black plastic nut is not protruding below the shaft, gently tap it towards the end where the cable protrudes. Then you be able to attach it to your tool by hand. Other than those 2 bugs it seems ok. I hung the dremel motor to a cabinet above my workbench with shafts hanging down and plan to plug it into a remote switched outlet so the switch is right on my bench for easy access.
So far I love it. Instead of holding the whole rotary tool in my hand I’m able to hold something with a width equivalent to a ink pen with a grip or highlighter marker. I’ve used it to sand down a lexan RC body shell and remove rust from an old bicycle. The only con I can think of is being careful when disconnecting the Flex Shaft from the Dremel because the turning mechanism piece will fallout if caution isn’t taken.
I just purchased the Dremel and purchased this item at the same time. If you like to do smaller projects or find yourself having to work in smaller or awkward spaces this is a definite tool to add. Another good reason to buy this is if you have small hands or suffer from Arthritus etc this is easier on the grip especially when working on long projects, as the dremel itself can be rather large, heavy and cumbersome. I am so glad I bought it. Its very easy to attach to the dremel and simple to use. The only down fall that I would see is that the control to switch it on and off is on the dremel and not on the end of this apparatus which can be a little annoying. All in all its been well worth the purchase and I would highly recommend this accessory!
Will come in very handy with many projects.
excellant
Excellent quality for all my wood art!
love this tool that is an extension of the dremel itself.
Works well and is a must accessory for Dremel tool.
I can’t wait to get to try this on my projects, it’s what I was expecting.
This attachment allows you to do more than you would be able to do with just the Dremel tool. It allows you to manually get into tight spaces that you would not be able to with…
works fine cheaper than in store
