Product Reviews

Nut replacement, works on the 200 model.

The nut fell off my dremel recently during transit for a project. No idea where it went. Purchased this even though the item description didn’t specifically mention fitting the 200 model. It fits perfectly. The collets are a bonus in my case. There’s been a few times in the past where I wanted to use, say, a drill bit that was slightly too large to fit (necessitating getting out my less-convenient power drill). So the collets will come in handy, I’m sure.I always left the nut of my dremel just loose enough to put a bit on it. Lesson learned. Always screw it to at least a semi-tightened state, or it could screw itself off.

A Necessary Accessory for the Dremel

A dremel is so versatile it can take all sorts of bits not originally intended for it. I have dental bits from a friend which won’t fit the standard collet, that’s where these come in. They adapt the dremel for almost any reasonably sized bit. I actually have two sets of these and they are sturdy and work very well. I have had them for over 30 years and never had one break or need to be replaced. They fit any dremel ever made (I have a dremel my father gave me that is numbered 3 and it fits in that one) and the only negative is they are easy to lose if you don’t put them away when changing them out.

You’ll need these if you plan on using Dremel drill bits.

These bits came in handy for using a Dremel rotary tool with small drill bits. The rotary tool came with a collet that was far too big for the Dremel drill bits. If you plan on drilling you’ll need these smaller collets. Oh and not one of these collets by itself will fit the different drill bit sizes. So don’t try and buy just one collet from this set and think it will be okay.

Just what was needed.

The #4485 Nut/Collet set is what you need to use those small drill bits, and after all, isn’t that supposed to be one of the main functions of a Dremel???I use two Dremels, one for drilling which uses the collets, The other for cutting, grinding, and burring which has the #4486 chuck installed.I can see why some people have trouble with the chuck and small drill bits; it’s like going to yourdrill press and trying to use a little drill bit on that big chuck; not easy, and half the time youget a wobble out of it.

Good kit - poor markings on sizes. Still a good buy.

A necessary kit if you plan to use your dremel with a lot of different tools. The big issue is Dremel’s poor job of marking which collet is which size. They have a ‘ring’ marking at the bottom that is impossible to see even after I used a marker on it so it’s a big of a pain to try each one to see which one is which. Eventually I’ll try writing on them the size but they are very small so it will be hard to do. Other than the poor markings they work well.

Great product.

Great product as now you no longer need to find that missing wrench that fits the lock nut.I don’t know how well it would work on high speed but I would strongly recommend eye protection if going that route. Most of my work requires low speed drilling and it works very well with smaller drill sizes. ( 60-80)

Get both

I have the Dremel model 395 (Type 5). I don’t use it a lot, but it comes in very handy when it’s needed. I just want to add my opinion that having both this item (4485 Quick Change) and the 4486 Keyless Chuck is, in my experience, a great idea. Both can be had for around $15. The four collets included with the Quick Change give the confidence of a snug and secure fit for a longer task, while the Keyless Chuck is very handy for a less demanding application. The Keyless Chuck is secure, but the Quick Change Kit offers an exact fit and the added confidence that goes along with that. I would suggest you, occasionally, pause to make sure both are tight when using either item. I can’t think - for the combined price - of any reason not to have both in your Dremel case.My son and two friends have newer model Dremel tools. Both of these items fit these newer models (4000, and one of the 300 series).
