Two Year Warranty
The Dremel 8-Volt Lithium-ion Cordless rotary tool is the tool for people who are passionate about hands-on projects around the home such as finishing, intricate sanding, polishing, cleaning, engraving and more. The tool’s variable speed control allows you to set the speed of the tool to match a particular accessory to the task at hand and it is designed to be used with all Dremel accessories and most threaded attachments.
Dremel makes a good product, really the only acceptable rotary tool…This 8v unit is about the right power to do dogs nails , has a variable speed so you can start out slow to not scare them…. contrary to another reviewers opinion, I don’t find it too powerful to do small dogs with.I previously had a 7.8 volt Dremel NiCd and had battery issues a lot, they would wear out quickly, discharge quickly, when I bought Dremel branded replacements they might or might not fit correctly, this new Li Ion design solves all that.Pro:- Li Ion means no battery memory, longer life, shorter recharge times- new battery plug in design is far superior to the previous NiCd design which rattled, made noise, was hard to latch…. this one fixes all of that- good size considering the power- a case and plenty of bits included- variable speed so you can slowly work up speed without scaring your dogCon- none yetenjoy!—————————————————————————————–2 years later, warranty just ran out, have about 2 total hours on the tool… and the front bearing is out and the power slide doesn’t work, Dremel isn’t allowing a little warranty extension, so I’m outta luck… the 8100 has developed a terrible repuation over the last couple of years and you should avoid it and go with the 8220
Stay away from this model! The switch went bad on me after barely using it for 3 months. Sent it in to Dremel and found out that their customer service was superb. They have acknowledge that the switch design is not sealed and that performing a dusty project can clog up the switch contacts causing to overheat or cut off. They are sending me a different model in replace to this one. Although I’m giving this product a one star and as rightfully so, I’d like to give Dremel’s customer service a 5 star. So in the end, do not buy this model. Spend an extra $20-30 and get a 8220 model which is far superior in almost every way.
Ok, It was driving me crazy that I couldn’t find what this actually came with. So I ordered the 160 piece (710-05) accessory kit just in case. I honestly, probably, didn’t need to do that. The Dremel Itself comes with a few accessories that will get most people started and satisfied. If you need a specific tool, then buy that one. Without Further ado, the content of my package.- 1 black 2 snap box which doubles as a carrying/storage case. Decent quality.- 3 1-1⁄4”x1/8” Cut-Off Wheels- 1 3⁄16”x1/8” Silicon Carbide Grinding Stone- 1 3⁄8”x1/8” Aluminum Oxide Grinding Stone (Cylinder)- 1 3⁄8”x1/8” Aluminum Oxide Grinding Stone (Cone)- 1 3⁄4”x1/8” Bristle Brush- 2 1⁄2”x1/8” Felt Polishing Wheel- 1 Polishing Compound (bar)- 1 1⁄2”x1/8” Sanding Drum Mandrel- 3 1⁄2”x1/8” 60 Grit Sanding Bands- 3 1⁄2”x1/8 120 Grit Sanding Bands- 3 1⁄2”x1/8 240 Grit Sanding Bands- 1 1⁄8” Shank Mandrel (This one looks like a screw on top of a mandrill, for felt tips with no hole in the middle)- 1 1⁄8” Shank Mandrel (This one is an unscrew loader for bits/tips with holes in them)- 1 Bit Wrench- 1 Easy Twist Cap- 1 Dremel 8v Variable speed Rotary Tool- 1 1 Hour Charger- 1 8v Lithium Ion Battery- 1 User Guide / Instruction booklet. Does provide some helpful hints for first timers / Seasoned pros.Hope this helps your decision. The Tool itself is amazing so far and the only reason I gave it a 4 is because initially it seemed as though the bits did not fit into the shaft. It took a wee bit of muscle to actually get the bit in there, and the instructions provided no such information. I thought I had gotten the wrong bits at first.
This is an update to my original 5 star review. In the beginning the product worked excellent. Stayed charged for a rather long time. I use the product only on small breed dogs nails. Now the dremel is starting to have some issues which is the reason for the drop in my rating for this product. I have only had this product for a couple of months now and already it turns off in the middle of using it and you have to keep trying to turn it off and on to get it going again. It is not because the battery is low or dead as I fully charged it before using. I make sure my equipment stays clean and free from hair and dust but still this issue seems to be getting worse. I do not plan on spending this kind of money again. I will just got to Walmart and get a small one until it gives out.
I’m very happy with this product. Granted I’ve only used it on my German Shepherd/Huskey’s nails but it’s MUCH better than the Dremel dog nail trimmer. The battery lasts longer, it’s more reliable and so much stronger. As long as you know what you’re doing you can trim the nails very quickly. I give this four stars because I haven’t used this on anything other than my dog.
Wow, I barely use my Dremel and now the battery will not charge any longer. So I am back to using my trusty Dremel MotoTool from the 1970’s……. Not a happy camper as I have to ship at my expense back to manufacturer. One problem buy from Amazon and not brick and mortar store.
Dremel tools have gone completely DOWNHILL! This is so noisy,so undependable, skips evey few seconds. Have used these for 45 yrs on my dogs nails….NOMORE. They have cheapened their tools and their chargers ( SEE OTHER REVIEWS!!) and batteries are total & complete cheap junk.I have hoardes of them in my drawer; one or the other useless !! That is how they make their money ! I have writen them many times and surely they have seen these reviews and JUST DONT CARE! By a Hitachi or black & decker.
Really liked this cordless Dremel, I used it for a summer art project, cutting the spoons for art project, see picture.
How did I ever live without one of these things? I used this for drilling holes in seashells.
Returning this, runs hot, stalls after a very short time. Disappointed
it is a little slow. I wish I would of got the 12-volt one.
This is a great tool. Has much the same heft and balance as the corded tool but without the hindrance of the cord. Plenty of power & speed.
I bought this item for my job. I am horribly disappointed in it. It worked for a couple weeks before the slider that turns it on and chooses the speed stopped working so you have…
Had to order a replacement immediately because it doesn’t turn on. The new one does the same thing. We cannot stand it
The Dremel 8100 doesn’t have enough torque to be useful. The motor overheats and shuts down if you apply any load to it. Its frustrating. I wish I had never bought the thing.
This works well. I purchased it primarily to use on my dog. She has big black nails and they need trimming quite frequently.
