Product Reviews

((PRO)) The assembly was very easy and the machine was quieter than the Dremel 3000 …

I make American Indian pipes from Catlinite stone and bought this just for that. ((PRO)) The assembly was very easy and the machine was quieter than the Dremel 3000 with cable I had owned. I like the pedal and makes carving a dream and the speed is more than enough for what I do((CON)) The 3000 has a push button/twist open chuck and the 9100 has a chuck key. The key works great but it is a hassle to turn the hand piece to a certain point to get the key to fit. There is no place to put the key once you are finished. The 3000 allows the bit to be placed 95% of the way into the chuck and the 9100 only allows the bit to go 50% of the way in. The 9100 cable is not as flexible as the 3000. You will, have to play with the height of the motor before installing the holding bracket to get the best positioning of the cable when working. The Pros outweigh the ConsWould I recommend you buying it or me buying another one? In a heartbeat

A few small issues, but overall quite happy.

I have only used it for a short time, but I can see things I like and some that I don’t like. Here are the pros and cons I see thus far.Pros:-Very quiet for the amount of power it has. More quiet than any of the smaller models I’ve had.-Extremely versatile! Chuck key bit change is quick and reduces the need for collets.-The stylus (I’m not sure what it’s called so I’ll call it a “stylus” for lack of a better term) is kinda bulky, but not too uncomfortable.Cons:-The chuck key doesn’t seat well in the gear and I noticed gouging on the gear after the first bit I put in it. I hope this doesn’t become a bigger issue along the way with the chuck gear stripping. It’s almost like the chuck key is a few thousandths of an inch too small.-The stylus started getting quite hot after only 5 minutes.-The cord from the peddle to the wall is a kinda short, but nothing an extension cord can’t fix. Just kind of a pain in the a**.Overall, I would recommend this to friends as well enemies. First off because it does seem like a well built tool and also because of dremel’s track record of excellent customer service. I’m reasonably certain that it will meet all of your expectations in a rotary tool.

Some problems, but pretty good.

I use this for sculpting marble mostly. The shaft can get hot but takes longer to get hot than other dremels. I had the shaft slip loose from it’s pin. I just put it back together. I think the aluminum handle was a stupid idea, turns my hands black. I taped the entire thing. It also tends to start spinning off, so taping it was necessary. There is a necessary cutout for the chuck key, but watch your fingers because when you’re working and watching your work and not the handle, your finger can touch the spinning chuck and it takes the skin right off, or instantly friction burns. The motor seems to be better than other dremels and if that’s been your problem, get this.

Workhorse

It has been a pleasure to work with this! The hand piece never overheated - never really even got warm. It’s comfortable enough for several hours of use and the stylus is stable and easy to maneuver. The motor is well suited it’s job. It’s quiet and convenient since it’s not in the same housing as the stylus. It compares head to head with the Foredom alternative except it’s quite a bit less expensive.IMO, Dremel did their homework and put out a fantastic product with this. Pick one up and check it out!

I’ve been waiting for this Dremel

This is the best Dremel ever. I am a technician that is spoiled with a $2000 japanese rotary tool. This is the closest thing I could find for a decent price that comes close to the functionality I am used to at work. This tool is geared more to a shop and the steel housing represents this well. Changing bits is easy and it accepts multiple sizes. The pedal seems nice too, the speed control is very smooth. This tool also has a good amount of torque, I have yet to slow it down even on tough grinding tasks. The best part about this tool is that it is there when I need it. I always have a use for this to create or modify some project around my studio and house.

Loving it!

This is a pretty early review from me. I usually like to wait a bit and use an item. However, since I have had several dremenls over the years, I will have to say that, so far, I’m really impressed. The creme de la creme in Dremels.. If anything changes, I’ll let you know, but as for now, great power, great control with the foot peddle.

The Dermel 9100-21

This Forti-Flex Dremel 9100-21 unit is very powerfull and operats so smooth I cant believe I got along without it. I am able to control cuts much better than the old Dremmel tool with a flex shaft installed and the three jaw chuck is great. Order with confidence. I am sure you will love it, I do!

Best of all

I bought this Dremel because my old hand-me-down rotary tool wasn’t able to keep up any more. I use it mostly for grinding steel, aluminum, and cast iron. So far it’s been working perfectly for me. The motor is smooth throughout its entire rpm range and doesn’t have excessive vibration. Best of all, I haven’t had any trouble with it getting hot after prolonged use. The only thing I didn’t like was the foot pedal. I’m not fond of not being able to set a speed and leave it. Thankfully, the tool just plugs into the foot pedal with a standard 120v plug, so I plugged it into a variac and ditched the pedal.
