PS4 DS4 (CUH-ZCT1U 05) - 20th Anniversary Ed. Gray
The nostalgia in me loves this controller (and i did need another one) It’s basically a Remastered PS1 controller. I love it!
If you are looking for a gamer review of this item, then stop reading now! :) If you are a girlfriend or wife that is looking to purchase this for their significant other, then keep reading. I purchased this as a gift for my significant other. He was excited to receive a new PS4 controller. He seems to like it and plays PS4 all the time with it. However, he played PS4 all the time prior to receiving it. ;) So, if you are looking for a good gift to keep your significant other playing the PS4 all the time, then this is a good controller to do that.
Absolutely awesome!
Great but not fully like the one from the Limited 20th Anniversary PS4 bundle. It’s missing the etching on the touchpad that had the PS symbols and the number 20 repeating on it. I really wanted that on mine so I am disappointed but it’s still nice overall.Original grey PS1 color with the colored logo PS Button. Just wish it had the etched touchpad.
So glad to have ordered on of these (I have two since then), back when they were $55 but wow, for over $100, lol I could probably sell both of mine for that same price but I won’t, I love them. Smells like…. nostalgia. I’m sure there’s someone who will throw their money at these and spend this much for one controller, I say go ahead :) If you’re like and I guess most people here who bought one of these for nostalgia purposes, buy one, well for this price, no but up to you :D
Let me share with you a hidden feature you may not know about and it involves the headphone port.Once you plug/connect your headset/headphones into your controller on the PS4 go to:Settings –> Devices–> Audio Devices –> ‘Output to headphones’ change ‘chat audio’ to ‘all audio’From that you are able to input all sound to your headset into a wireless headset receiver, so you no longer have to get an extension cord across the living room to use your wired controller. It stops sending audio from the HDMI and optical port and directly to what’s connected to your controller. Great if you own a high end wired gaming headset and don’t want to invest in a wireless one just so you don’t have to deal with extended wires hooking up to your console or have to sit up close to the TV (example buying the Astro A40 over the A50s). Note that it may not work on all headsets, for example the stock Apple Headset does not work (or at least in chat). Now on the actual controller review. I got the Anniversary edition which is the exact same as the stock controller you get in your PS4, but just a different color. This controller will not enhance your gameplay unless the placebo effect of getting a favorite color gets up more pumped for some reason. If you plan to purchase the the Anniversary edition, just know that the design is different from the PS4 controller if you purchased the PS4 anniversary console as that controller has a better designed emblem on the gamepad and better screws in back…so yeah, know that the one you’re getting here is less rare, but functions the sameSyncing is easy: Turn on your PS4, connect your controller to the PS4 via USB/mico USB cable (not included in this package) and hit the PS button on the controller. Ready to play in seconds (unlike the Wii or Wii U which takes 30secs+)This controller is in every way better than the PS3 controller (minus the battery life which I’ll get into later). It has better ergonomics, trigger buttons (R2, L2) don’t slip off your fingers once you press them, palm grips more comfortable to hold, built in speakers, touch pad, light bar, share button and most importantly the headphone port!Battery life is in controller is horrible compared to the DualShock 3 as it dies out about 3-4 hours of intense gameplay. You can go wired and directly connect it to the PS4, but it feels weird being tethered to the console, especially with the risk of someone walking across the room and tripping over the wire.Instead, when the dualshock 4 is low on battery I just use an external battery with a short USB cable (~1 foot) and your controller is back in action. Yes, you are also tethered to the external battery, but you get more mobility, and after long game sessions you don’t even realize it’s there.Overall, just a different paint job on the controller than what you get with your console. Hope you picked up some tips from this review and happy gaming.
This controller reminds me of the original Playstation console I played decades ago, and apart from that it is (of course) a DualShock 4 controller. I am not a big enough legacy Playstation fan to have purchased the 20th Anniversary having already obtained a PS4 at launch, so this was a nice option for me to feel some nostalgia for my first PlaytStation experience. It was surprisingly emotional for me to look down at my hands around the classic grey electronics plastic that was so prominent throughout the 90’s. It seems trivial to have a preference for one color over another for a console controller, but this one got me.
This is for the DualShock 4 20th Anniversary controller. First, DualShock 4 controllers are great. Comfortable, sleek, well made, etc. This is more about this special edition controller. What a nostalgic little gem. The X, Square, Triangle and Circle buttons are all retro colored and the PS Home button has the retro color-scheme from the 90’s PlayStation symbol. The controller itself is a dual-tone grey. I love it. It stands out and makes me feel like it’s the 90’s again without the terrible fashion sense and all the PCP. Great addition and matched my Anniversary theme on my console nicely.
First review. This used one can not power on.
Works great
Love it!
Great gift for your favorite gamer.
It was the price of two controllers but it was ok but I will never buy another one for that price again. 😊
This is such a great color for the controller. It brings back so many memories! Love the colored “PS” button.
I bought used so my controller drifts to the right ever so slightly. If I had purchased this new I would have returned it but I figure this issue may go away after a thorough…
Bought it for the color. Works as well as the other controllers
