What a time saver! I’ve been using the burner from a turkey fryer for decades, though I’ve used other home brewer’s set-ups as well. This is a huge jump in price, but it’s quiet and efficient. The design has a whole bunch of individual jets so you don’t get hot spots that burn your malt and this thing came to temperature like nothing I’ve experienced. I’ve used it for two batches now and I’d say it cuts about 45 minutes our of my brew time.
Only problem I had was with the hose unit. A small needle valve and very small brass connector is on the stove end. The connector broke. I did a google and discovered that many others have had the same problem. I bought a replacement (with a much better connector) at a box store. This is why I dropped a star. I also went ahead and ordered the extension legs which makes a very big difference. The unit works fine.
This thing really kicks butt. For several years, I’ve been using Bayou Classic burners for my brewing, which produce just over 55,000 BTUs. The problem started when I went from 5 gallon batches to 10+ gallon batches with my much larger MegaPot 1.2 Stainless Steel Brew Kettle Pot - 15 Gallon with Ball Valve and Thermometer - 60 Quart. It took nearly an hour to get the kettle to boil, although the Bayou Classic is fine for mashing and heating the sparge tank. The Bru Burner, with its 72,000 BTUs, and much larger burner, makes short work of a tank filled with 10 gallons of wort. It feels very sturdy and I’ve experience no problems whatsoever with more than 80+ pounds sitting on it (I should note that I also bought the extension legs for this). If I could change one thing, it would be to add some sort of pads to the bottoms of the extension legs so that it would be a bit easier to slide around the brewing cave when necessary. Other than that minor issue, I can’t think of a single bad thing to say about this product. It’s rock-solid, totally functional, and looks like it should cost far more than it really did.
this burner will turn down lower than the blickman, but does not get as hot and has more pieces / more complicated to use. if you need a large burner that turns down very low, like for simmering, this is probably the one you want. but other then that i prefer the blickman burner.
Why would you waste your money on anything else for brewing! When you could have this thing of beauty! Using it as I type. It’s sturdy, great looking , quite, no black dirty mess to clean , nice blue flame all the time and even heat with the bigger burner and you can’t beat the look . Brewing just got better thanks for this buy
Took it out of the box, fired it up and love it. Glad I chose this one over the others.
Great Burner. Very fine control, very quiet. I would buy again and again and again.
I wasn’t sure if I should get this burner or the Blichmann floor burner. I ended up going with this was because of the copper look. After using it once the copper ring on the top was all discolored and pitted. The clear coat that keeps the copper looking nice burnt of(smelt horrible) and I’m left with an great burner that looks horrible. I wish I would have went with the Blichmann. The burner is built very well and puts off some serious heat but I’m just disappointed this the finish.
The burner is great. Easy to light and easy to adjust. I had a small leak in the pin valve, but that was easy enough to fix.
Product arrived well packaged and quickly. Construction is solid and it looks great! Was able to get a 5gal boil rolling in a fraction of the time my previous burner was capable…
Fantastic! I got the leg extensions too. They make it even better. On a real windy day it gets challenging but I’ve always had good consistent flame. Heats my 10 gal pot quickly.
