Quality mini USB direct hard wire accessories power cable for Garmin tm 20 10 standalone driving recorder, Cobra CDR820 Dash Cam, DSP9200BT. The cable also work with Garmin Nuvi , Streetpilot, Zumo GPS, compatible Magellan, TomTom, Mio GPS navigator, cam navigation , dash mount camera recorder with gps and dash cam hd.
I used this to wire a Garmin 35 dash cam. I mounted the cam at the top of the windshield just to the left of the mirror. The wire ran under the front edge of the headliner and under the trim beside the airbag on the left A pillar ending up at the fuse box at the left side of the dash. The box in the middle of the wire has a sticker advising that it needs to be able to breathe, and it’s in free air under the dash. The ferrite bead near the mini USB plug was not an issue. I used an add-a-circuit fuse to make a neat installation. The This was done on a 2016 Silverado. This cable is good quality and I would purchase again.
As other reviewers have stated, the cable from the USB connector to the power block is too short. This would not have been a problem if the installer had listened to me instead of being a knot-head - I told him to install the cable with the block in the dash and run the cable as far as it would go, I would then get a 6, 10, or 12 inch extension cable to make up the difference. Instead, he jammed the box in to the column and then had to force the column trim back into place.Would not have been a problem had the block been further towards the supply end, so I deem this as poorly designed. On the other hand, this same cable works fine in my Jeep Grand Cherokee - that cable was routed around the passenger side and replaced an existing cable that caused the camera to give the USB storage question.
Use with Garmin camera 35. It makes it think it’s connected to a computer. It asks for mass media storage. So, have to select “no” every time it starts up. It makes it not plug n’ go.
It works but what idiot designed this thing. Who puts a block 3⁄4 of the way along the cable? Trying to run this within the seams of the a frame is a challenge. Product works but routing the wire is made harder with this design.
Worked for a little while. Now it constantly asks me whether I want to enter mass storage mode on my Garmin 35. I normally unplug it from the camera every time I go to work at a military base so I suspect normal wear and tear will make this cable fail. Tried with reinstalling with many different ground points without success. Would not recommend if one has to constantly unplug and re plug the cable. The stock cable which came with the Garmin 35 in my wife’s car still works without prompting for input about mass storage.
The day after installing a tire pressure sensor default light came on my dash. Brought vehicle to two tire shops who said there was no problem with tire sensors and I should bring it in to a Ford dealer to check computer. After doimg much research onlone I found a video that said how cheap phone chargers could interfere with sensors. I disconnected the hard wire and the fault went away. I no longer can use the hardwire due to the interference.
The item I received was not the item in the picture. Mine had a round barrel portion (can’t think of the name at the moment - NOT the step down converter) a few inches from the mini usb. That means it would’ve been hanging down from my pillar. Instead of returning it like I should have, I attempted to cut, splice, and solder in longer wiring. That worked fine except that I’m catching interference on my backup camera now, which makes this unusable. To be fair, I ignored the warning in the instructions to not cut the shielded wiring. I did this bc I was under a time crunch and didn’t want to wait to return the product and get the one in the picture. So that is on me and why I can’t return this thing. Buyer beware….you’re probably not going to receive what you thought you’d be getting.
Worked for my Garmin 20 without a hitch. Camera starts recording on power up and does not go into any kind of storage mode. This was a test purchase and I’ll be purchasing two more.
Represented to handle the Garmin GPS. It does not. The GPS I own (Garmin 57LM) comes on OK but tells me the cable is not capable of charging the unit…
I bought this thing so that I would not have to repeatedly connect the Garmin power supply to the power outlet in the car and to my Garmin 20 dash Cam.
Works great! Installed for my dashcam Pony. The 90 degree USB connection made for a clean and stealthy install.
Works as it should
Makes Garmin Dashcam 35 go into “mass storage mode” just like it’s plugged into a P.C.So you have to select “no” and hit “enter” every time you start…
IT works just fine with the USB Mini Garmin devices, but not with Micro through an adapter. If it’s not listed in the description, it might not work with this.
Works great with the Garmin 35
Works as advertised
