Fantastic add-on gift for the microscope we gave our nine year old daughter for Christmas. The microscope came with some ready to prepare slides, but it definitely added a layer of excitement to have some ready to view immediately. I later added a wooden slide sorting box which you can find here on Amazon for approximately $10, to keep track of her collection. Great value, love the color coding and labeling. Fast way to get your young scientist (or yourself) started examining the microscopic world.
Bought with - AmScope M30-ABS-KT51 51-piece 300x-600x-1200x Metal Frame Kids Student Beginner Compound Microscope KitMy 7 year old twins love it! The day after their b-day they both got their own “samples”; to include; a dragon-fly’s wing, some algae on bark, a wild strawberry, a dead ant, a leaf, and some other bits and pieces that we need to cut up :)The fun we’re finding about this mechanism is that the fun keeps going on. Look above … then; During winter we’re gonna be able to hatch those brine shrimp and other bits we find outside in the winter months of the S.Western Winter storms of VA.It’s not the best but it’s certainly the medium my husband and I were after for our high energy life-minded kids of 7 ON the day of May 29th, 2008 … :0
Perfect item for a student who is learning about a microscope! Great price and quality!
Bought these for our 6 year old daughter. She may not understand what she is looking at all the time, but she enjoys looking anyhow. This set is sturdy enough that she can use them by herself, but she frequently asks questions about what the specimen. Great learning item for her, which will be relevant for years to come. Perfect for my application however I would not expect too much use for a teenager or for somebody with more experience or understanding of microscope usage.
Such poor quality. There are bubbles under the slide covers so bad that it is hard to distinguish between the bubbles and the specimen with some. Very disappointed.
I wish in the picture they would actually show you it in the packaging because it looks way better in person. This came with a neat mix of fun things to look at under a microscope. My six year old daughter received a microscope for Christmas, and I don’t think her interest in it would have gone half as far without this to compliment it. I can’t find any cons with this, all of the specimens were intact, the slides are great quality, and the grasshopper wing under the microscope is AMAZING. I think I may have had even more fun with these than my daughter! Would definitely buy the other variations of the same brand.
The other reviews about this being “just okay” are pretty accurate. However, an additional issue to consider is that there are 3 objects per slide, equally spaced across the slide. Depending on how far your slide frame/adjuster goes from side to side, you may end up having to not use it and instead put the slides in vertically (vs. the more “standard” horizontally on the base) in order to center the viewing circle under the viewing scope area. While this works okay, it doesn’t allow find movement of the slide using the controls, nor does it secure the slide to prevent it moving out of place if having multiple viewers look at the object being studied. So overall, kind of boring things to look at and due to spacing of 3 objects per slide, your slide frame may not adjust far enough side to side to view the outer objects w/o modifying your slide placement.
This is cute little set of slides showing a variety ofthings from fungi, drinks, plastics, grasshopper parts, natural fibers etc. The microfilm showing a letter or numberwas especially interesting to my grandchildren. This is abasic starter set to help interest children in microscopy andas such is worthwhile.
Liked it
Great Slides all in Clear viewing condition and all Worth it 10⁄10 *
These slides are very poor quality. Most of the slides have air pockets and you can see the glue used to seal the slide. I had better luck making my own slide.
Gifts for our granddaughter.
My grandson loved this for his microscope.
Lot of slides are useless and looks like they were added just to be able to claim more specimens
its a little hard to line them up with 3 to a slid but they work good.
Good, basic starter and variety of elements to view microscopically.
fun
