With the GeoSafari MicroPro, young scientists can investigate everything from cells to crystals. Perfect for individual or classroom use, the glass eyepieces and power settings from 50x to 600x provide users with superior precision viewing. The built-in light and rack-and-pinion focusing help deliver bright, clear images. The 48-piece kit has professionally prepared slides and everything users need to make their own specimen slides. Not a toy, but a scientific instrument, the microscope includes high-quality components and features that make it appropriate for science learning at any age. Requires 2 AA batteries for light (not included).
The optics of this microscope are not good enough to discern even the most basic cellular structures. I was hoping I could show my niece a nucleus, cell walls, etc… but despite my expertise (PhD student that uses microscopes constantly) and despite her enthusiasm, this microscope came up drastically short. Because it was clear that she had an interest in microscopy, I will be sending her a better microscope as a “make-up present”. I took one of the pre-made slides to the good microscope at my lab, and it was basically garbage. If you want to discourage your young budding scientist from continuing that path, this is the product for you. If you actually want them to be excited by the microscopic world, buy a different microscope (this one will just frustrate and discourage them).
the goods is OK. but scale too small to watch bug or tiny insect. with it my son and myself only watched texture of leave, microbiology in a water drop from fish bowl. they frequently moved but we can’t see clear its detail, like head, leg, etc. another day we got a small fly, but without proper tool we only got its corpse. put it under this microscope, again we can’t watch detail of the body, but roughly a long leg of it.
The mirror/light mechanism is very loose and will not stay in place long enough to get a good image. You have to move the mirror/light around with your hand to position it and then when you remove your hand it falls back down. The light, if you should call it that, is inadequate. I know this is a toy, but you should be able to see something. I have worked with many microscopes and I am well aware of how to focus one. I was not able to do that with this model.
My grandmother had me order this for my son for Christmas. We had a great time looking at samples of my blood, water from the puddles outside, even dust from the vacuum cleaner! My son wants to purchase more slides to look at.The reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because the ‘high’ setting is not very good…. it’s very blurry and won’t focus very well on the item in the slide. However, low and medium are great for seeing stuff still. I would recommend this as a starter microscope for any little science lover.
Great for my seven year old, he loves it and he loves finding gross things to discover.
This is a perfect beginners microscope. My 8 year old daughter is really into science and decided to spend some birthday money on this item. After me showing her how to use it one time she is able to set it up and view slides on her own. We haven’t yet made our own slides but the kit includes supplies to do so which is really nice.
It was a Christmas gift for my grandson and he loved it!
Like others, this just isn’t up to expectations. I had a microscope as a kid, and it was way better than this one. Very difficult to get items in focus, to the point that it is nearly useless to use.
Nice learning tool for the grandson, he loves it!
I bought these for a neighbors kid in middle school.Honestly I expected a little but more, but for the price can’t complain too much.
works ok for the toy that it is.
Cute starter microscope for my 11yr old son. Works good, came on time
Very poor quality, couldn’t see a thing. Returned with no issues
easy to use, great beginning microscope
Got it for a gift.Looks good,the light doesan’t work
gift
Get it. Nice quality and lightweight for children. It is not that big so it is easy to store
