Soft Box Diffuser

I purchased this after a friend purchased one and was so happy. For the price, this is excellent. I used it yesterday and I had two photo outings on an dreary over cast day. This illuminated their faces so beautifully. Be sure to have extra batteries as when using flash it tends to use up more battery. I strongly recommend this and will share it with other members in my camera club

It’s very sturdy, does not collapse once attached to the speedlite

I was searching for a light modifier for my Canon 430 EX II speedlite and found this. It’s very sturdy, does not collapse once attached to the speedlite, and fits very snuggly due the velcro around the end. I actually prefer this to my Gary Fong light diffuser - that thing NEVER stays on my speedlite! It creates beautiful, soft light, enough at the lowest power output. I LOVE it for wedding receptions.

Updated information in review: The small diffuser is okay - not sure about the rest.

I am happy they are so concerned, and would choose to do business with them again.Original review:The reviews on this are quite positive, and I bought based on that and mention that once unfolded, these will hold a decent unboxed shape, but I have to disagree. Mine all wanted to cave in a little no matter how long I left them formed into the right shape before attachng to my flash - especially the largest one.Also, I saw no lighting differences at all in several dozen test shots I took between the largest diffuser and the smallest, whether mounted on either of 2 different flash units I have, or when used with 2 different cameras.I will have a use for the small one, but had I known then what I know now, that is the only one I would have purchased.

A must for a beginner like me!

I love having this diffuser specially when taking photos during the night or low light situation as it soften the shadows.

Works but needs a bit of attention when shooting

Overall, the build quality and performance of this softbox is good. Works especially well with a flash mounted to rotating flash frame. Why then the 4 star rating? As noted by other reviewers, it does have a tendency to want to slump and tilt forward. I solved this issue by cutting a piece of 1” wide very thin aluminum bar stock and creating a support bracket. I insert this into the softbox, it has a bend and 3” of extra flat surface that rides the top of the flash head, and then cinching down the velcro collar holds all in place and the softbox nicely supported in an upright position.You can also keep an eye of the box and pop it back up periodically.

Very nice! Nice even diffusion and a great price

Using with Yongnuo flashes. Very nice! Nice even diffusion and a great price. REAL value for the money. I have one of those more expensive “bendy” diffusers and what a hassle compared to this one. I like Altura’s style with packaging with nifty re-usable zip lock pouches and a microfiber cloth to boot.

Great little tool.

This little goodie is very handy. Folds flat for storage and spreads the speed lights flash for a softer light. And if you need more diffusion there’s room for some bubble wrap or a wad of tissue. Like I said, very handy.

Does the job for a reasonable price

Not the highest quality but certainly good enough for the average to pro-sumer photographer. Initial test shots of the dogs in a poorly lit room were great, removed all harsh shadows that were present during the initial baseline images (baselines were existing lighting and Nikon SB900 without diffuser). I used all three sizes at distances up to 10 feet (between 120 and 150mm at f8.0).
