    Product Description

Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact. Dedicated lens hoods are designed to match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for.

Perfect Canon Replacement

I purchased this lens hood for my Canon 55-250MM IS II lens and the C-EW 60C for my 18-55MM IS II lens. Both of these lens hoods are dedicated to their respective lens’ as per Canon, at a fraction of the price! OEM products are typically more expensive, especially Canon products. I am not bashing Canon ( too much ), but they always want to charge you a premium, especially for accessories… They are made just as the Canon lens hoods are, of high-impact plastic and are reinforced with other materials. I was tempted to buy all metal lens hoods made of aluminum, but after much research on the internet; decided to go with plastic. The “feel” of metal was tempting, but these plastic models are much more protective and practical. In my research, I found that the metal lens hoods actually “transfer” any impact onto the lens. Potentially causing damage to the lens ring, or worse; to the lens itself. These reinforced, plastic models actually “absorb” any impact or hit, and deflect it away from the lens… Minimizing any potential damage from the inevitable “hit”. They are bayonet vs. screw-on mounted, which makes it easy to put them on or off. Just a quick twist in either direction, and your set. I leave them on always, though. I want them there at all times for the protection they offer. An added bonus of the bayonet mount is that they are reversible on the lens for easy storage, especially the one for the 55-250MM lens. It’s bigger and longer, and does take up less precious space in my camera bag when reversed… Highly recommended, and very satisfied so far with all of the products I’ve purchased from Fotodiox…

Does everything I want it to, at this prices it a no brainier. Fits perfectly on canon t5 tele kit lens (Ef 75-300 4-5.6 III USM), helps reduce len’s flare and offers fairly good protection.& Small bonus if you want your kit lens to look a little cooler, this (sort of?) makes it look like less of a kit lens.

Great affordable product for your Canon telephoto lenses

I was looking for a lens hood for my Canon telephoto lens to help reduced the amount of sun shining on my lens when I’m taking photos outdoors. After seeing several reviews on this lens hood, I decided to go with it and I’m more than happy that I decided to get it. First I went to my local big box to store to get one, but they either didn’t have them in stock or they were trying to charge too much for the lens. I have a Canon DSLR camera and always try to buy the products brought brand to keep with continuity (it’s just the way I am with accessories), but many times they are just not reasonably price or worth the price. One thing for sure is that this product is as good as a Canon branded lens hood for the price. When you realize they both are plastic…one question you might actually ask yourself is why such price difference? Another thing about this lens hood is that you can also keep the Fotodiox Dedicated Bayonet lens hood on the lens w/o the need to take it completely off. All you have to do is…1) twist it off from the lens when you are finish taking photos and ready to store it…2) reverse it…3) put it back over the lens in the opposite position and…4) twist again for a secure fit. No need to store it somewhere else separatley. This will save you lots storage in your camera bag if you have several other lens hoods. It fits over my 58m UV lens filter…which is also another hugh plus:)! It works well with my Canon 55-250 & 70-300mm lens. I realize that this might not be for everyone. I find it hard to not see why for the price and quality? I can tell already that this lens hood is going to fill my photography needs for many years to come. I’m actually going to buy another one. I would highly recommend this lens hood for anyone with 58m diameter lenses! Thanks Amazon for offering once again other alternatives accessories for my Canon DSLR camera…Charles

Excellent Hood for canon 55-250mm Lens

I have a canon T2i with the 55-250mm lens and this hood fits perfect. When screwing on/off theres a bit of resistence however not bad at all and it makes you feel that its on securely. I also like the fact that it uses the threads on the outer part of the lens and not the inner part. It also has “Canon ET 60” stamped on it so it looks almost OEM. Makes your set-up look pro. My friend has an OEM and he was amazed at how much money I saved. Great for an OEM replacement or to just save some $$ as most of us do.

Good Value!

I am happy to confirm all the good things said about this lens hood by the previous posters. Also, this hood is deep enough to protect the lens and shield it from stray light. I used this hood when taking 1500 photos with my Canon 55-250 lens and there was no sign that it affected the photo in any way.I am very impressed with Fotodiox as a supplier of camera accessories. I now have hoods for two lenses and lens caps, all very well made and purchased for a fraction of what I would have had to pay for the equivalent from Canon or other suppliers. You will need a center-pinch lens cap if you use this hood. The Fotodiox lens cap sold by Amazon would be a good choice.

Get this one-it fits.

Get this one, it fits and the price is great. Don’t waste your time or money on any other lens hoods. They don’t fit or they are too expensive. Believe me I’ve tried. I’ve had mine for almost a year, and it still fits and it has saved my lens from getting damaged. I’ve purchased 3 lens hoods from Fotodiox and they all work.

Why pay for the name when this offers the same functionality?

This is a fantastic deal and can’t be beat! This hood fits the lenses advertised perfectly, and is every bit as durable as the Canon brand counterpart. I own both and for the price, I cannot see any reason to spend more money on a hood than necessary. I’ve shot thousands of photos with this on and never once noticed any negative effects on the stills. It has even stood up well to the occasional “mishap” that happens while shooting nature or action photography. It’s a piece of plastic, why pay more for the exact same product?

Great Product

For the price of the product, it is a great investment. I will be buying from them again for my other lens

works great. a little snug on my 70-300

works great. a little snug on my 70-300, gets caught in the threading. Not as good as the canon model
