Product Reviews

Memory that can’t remember.

Very, very disappointed. I bought two of these cards to add music and pictures to my Samsung Galaxy Tab s 8.4 tablet. I was unsuccessful trying to add more than 5 or 6 GB of music to either card. At a certain point the card would refuse to have files written to it and would declare itself “write protected” and no amount of attempted reformatting would do anything. Even using SanDisk’s own card reformat tool is pointless. The card states is has been reformatted and yet still contains the few files that were successfully written to it.More troubling still is the error message that when the card fails to accept data, Windows error message states that “The volume is dirty” and to “please run chkdsk”. After running chkdsk and getting the same results, I loaded a six year old Kingston memory card and it accepted the files just fine. Old Kingston memory, from my S4 Active phone solved the music issue in the tablet but, SanDisk, what gives with these cards “write protecting” themselves? I now have 70 dollars worth of useless memory. Totally unacceptable.

Second inoperable failure within 5 months of initial purchase

Alright, so this is the second of these cards that I’ve purchased that’s failed within half of a year (the one I’m currently reviewing failed in exactly 5 months from the day I purchased it). The second card I received was supposedly the new and improved version and the reviews here would lead you to believe just that. Well, it’s all a complete sham to me and I doubt you could convince me otherwise.I am not particularly thrilled that SanDisk has great return and refund policies because I’m not buying these SD cards to replace them all the time. The card is completely worthless to me. I cannot even format the things after hours of trying.I will -never- buy another SanDisk card, even if they do get rebranded as Western Digital. I’m just incredibly lucky that I didn’t store precious photos on the second one like I did the first. If you do purchase one of these, /pleasepleasepleaseplease/ do not store anything you’d care about losing on it.

Unreliable card

The card is unreliable. Amazon has replaced this card for me and now that replacement card has failed the same way. Bad Track 0 when trying to fix the scrambled file table.San Disk had me send the card back to their outsourced customer service center in Wisconsin. There they sat on the RMA and it’s now week 2 and San Disk can not confirm when if or when they will send a replacement under their 10 year warranty. The card is used to do simple file transfers from one desktop computer to another desktop.

Failed within a year.

This is the third SanDisk micro SD card that failed on me. The first time I got this card in March, I plugged it into my Windows tablet. There it stayed until the first week of December. I safely ejected it. I put it in my Windows laptop and copied in some videos. I safely ejected it out of the laptop and put it back into my tablet, and just like that, the card has an error and can’t be written to anymore. It’s completely locked. I can’t delete stuff on it, write stuff on it, format it or anything. All the files on it can still be read, but that’s about it. Wouldn’t buy again, not even if it were on sale.

Inexpensive, consistently reliable storage for use with the New Nintendo 3DS XL

As the title of my review suggests, I purchased this SanDisk Ultra 64GB UHS-I/Class 10 Micro SDXC Memory Card (up to 48MB/s) for use with my New Nintendo 3DS XL.Nintendo suggests only using Micro SDXC cards up to 32GB, but there is a formatting work-around that allows use of higher capacity memory cards. For those of us who download a significant number of games from the Nintendo 3DS E-shop, one can quickly run out of storage, especially when downloading games like the new Xenoblade Chronicles, and the like. This SanDisk Ultra 64GB memory card frees one from this threat for quite some time.Furthermore, for those gamers that have a New 3DS (in contrast to the “old” 3DS), the only way to access the Micro SDXC card is to unscrew the backplate (two mini screws). Not only is this inconvenient, but the screws are very soft, very small, and do not stand up to much use (removal and reinsertion). Only to add to the inconvenience, neither Nintendo or the big-box gaming store, sells replacement screws (insert related pun here). ; )While I haven’t run critical tests, I can share from a users perspective (as a gamer on the New 3DS platform) that the necessary high transfer rates (up to 48MB/s) is important, especially as more of the storage is used up by games and the like in order to not bog down the relatively simplistic 3DS RAM.After removing the back-plate, removing Nintendo’s included 4GB Micro SD (nice some storage is included, but 4GB is nearly useless for most gamers), and replacing it with this SanDisk, formatting and use was easy and seamless.Ultimately, the ease with which one can format and use this SanDisk Ultra Micro SD paired with the New 3DS is fantastic. How wonderful, a product that delivers all stated features reliably, consistently, and easily!I highly recommend the use of this SanDisk Micro SDXC for use with the Nintendo 3DS or New 3DS and I hope in some way my humble review can be helpful towards your decision!

Chinese knock off.

I am pretty sure the card I got is a counterfeit. RW speed should be “up to 48mb/s with adaptor”, which is almost 3gig per minute. I tried to load 10gig of data onto the card, and it would’ve taken 3 hours to complete the operation!!! All my other cards, which are older, run just fine, so I can’t think of anything else being wrong but this card itself. Also, the adapter is odd-shaped, and it fits into some (lose fit) slots, but not others. Kind of annoying, since it’s not read across all the devices :(
