Great action camera but again without optical stabilization

I had the temptation of buying the GoPro since they released the third model. But it was either too pricey for me at that time or I thought it could be a bit better. I almost bought the Hero5 but decided to wait until they would be able to shoot 4K footage at up to 60 frames per second, and 1080p footage at up to 240 fps. And, voila, the GoPro heard me and made the camera of my dreams. Usually, I order all my tech devices from Amazon, but as I had a gift card in BestBuy, I decided to buy it there.I bought it yesterday and I’m so excited. In terms of design, it looks the same as Hero5, which is probably ok, because I like it. I can also swim with it without a waterproof case for up to 33 feet (and I rarely go diving deeper). I still need to buy additional mountings, like bike and helmet mount and chest mount. But if you already have that from a previous model - you’re good to go - all the previous mountings (and stabilizers) will fit the new Hero6.Obviously, the main upgrade is the possibility to shoot 4K footage at up to 60 fps (Hero5 could only do 30 fps). But it’s not just that. It is said that Hero6 is quicker than the previous model, I don’t know if it’s true, but this action camera works very smoothly, I haven’t experienced any glitches so far. There is a touchscreen and touch zoom, which allows me to zoom digitally. It also has an electronic image stabilization, which is not the best, in my opinion. I’ve seen some videos on YouTube shot on Hero5 and I wouldn’t say that they improved stabilization. My videos are a bit shaky, I wouldn’t say that it ruins the video, but I was hoping to see some improvements here. The quality of the video is great, both day and in the evening. It might have been a bit cheaper, as I don’t know what made them put such a high price (although after iPhone X and Note 8 hardly anyone could surprise me with high prices on their products now). To my opinion, if you have Hero5, there is no need for the upgrade. But if you are looking for a great action camera, I think Hero6 might be your choice. I like it and I don’t regret buying it.

By far, THE BEST!

By far this is the best GoPro ever. I wasn’t sure if this camera would be a big enough upgrade to the Hero5 Black. It’s a HUGE upgrade. Everything is better with the Hero6 and it’s noticeable right away. Not only are you getting double the frame rates with 4K/60 and 1080240, but everything just looks so much better! Stability is amazing and the color is outstanding. The GoPro color is vibrant and beautiful. If you color grade in post like I do, and prefer the flat profile, the Hero6 gives you so much more to work with compared to other similar cameras including the Hero5.GoPro smartly got rid of the narrow and medium fov and instead added the ability to ZOOM. Essentially it’s the same as using these modes but you have much more flexibility in how close or far you want the sensor to crop, plus you can see exactly what the effect will be as you adjust the zoom/fov.Voice activation to turn on the camera and start recording is a big plus (firmware update is required and available now with the GoPro app) along with all of the usual voice activations found in the Hero5 cameras. All of the features of the Hero5 are also found on the Hero6. Waterproof, LCD back screen, GPS, RAW photo, manual ISO and shutter, stereo and wind resistance plus Protune audio, auto cloud updating, Quik Story, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connectivity, and selective spot metering/ light adjustment. The difference is, Hero6 does all of these things better. A lot better. The touch screen is more responsive. ISO can be set to max 100 with the shutter on auto. Wi-Fi connection and transfer is significantly faster. Audio is clear and more accurate. Light balance and low light are much better. If you don’t have the ability to edit RAW photos the new HDR gives rich blacks and brighter whites than the Hero5 Black WDR.If you are thinking about getting an action cam that can also be used as an everyday shooter, this is the camera to get. If you are on the fence about upgrading from your Hero5, it’s worth it. If you are still using a Hero4 or even a Hero3+, now is the time to upgrade, you truly don’t know what you’re missing and won’t regret getting this camera. In short, I am impressed!

First I’d like to share that I’m a full time professional photographer and until the Hero6 Black came out, I wouldn’t have even considered including a GoPro in my kit as the…

Very sturdy and high quality.

Wow best camera on market. Love it. Works perfectly as expected. Very sturdy and high quality.

This product is complete garbage. I “upgraded” from a HERO5

This product is complete garbage. I “upgraded” from a HERO5. The 6, as others have pointed out, is super buggy. All kinds of issues.

Five Stars

Perfect.

Useless software; Useless Helpdesk

Terrible software (GoPro Quik) and terrible support.I use a standard Dell computer with 64 Bit Windows 10, Core i7 and 8GB of RAM.

Freezes even with high quality SD card.

Freezes a lot. Go pro needs to adress this issue.

One Star

Requirements: Internet connected desktop.Windows 10.5 hours to mess with smartphone (Galaxy S6).Too much B.S.Will be returning.

Freezes Constantly

Overall I love the physical design of the camera, it’s accessories and being waterproof; however, if it’s always frozen what’s the point?

Great new modes and stabilization

So happy with new stabilization and 1080 240fps. Love it!

Dead pixel

Dead pixel on day one. Charge light stays on indefinitely and doesn’t hit 100%. Clunky buttons for port/battery doors. Get it together.
