Product Reviews

Not as advertised.

This was sold through Amazon by 6ave. It is claimed to be the official GoPro housing. The item I received was in a plastic bag. The hard case had the pad that secures the GoPro in the wrong place (the middle of the screen, rather than in the top and bottom like the version that comes with the Hero Silver. It did not have the skeleton and touch background.

Great Protection for Your GoPro

I’ve already dropped my GoPro several times and this protects your camera on all sides. I like the blackout housing over the other options because I still dream of becoming a ninja one day and if I finally pursue my dreams, I’d like to have a camera that matches my outfit.

Me likey

Looks cool as a polar bear on an ice cube! except it’s all black. I wanted a second housing so that I could leave my primary housing mounted to my road bike. I use this mounting nearly every day, I video my commute as the drivers in this town aren’t, shall we say, polite. I got tired of taking it on and off every time I wanted to use the GoPro off the road bike. So why not go with the cool, black version. As far as stealth goes, pretty decent. The front window is still shiny vs. matte if that matters to you, cover it. The lens will still be shiny, and there is no getting rid of that without sacrificing a LOT of video quality.Comes with three back doors: Flat black, open and touch back. The clear doors with the original housing also fit, but I think they look weird.

Eliminate those red LED reflections with this blackout case

I bought this because I noticed when taking pictures through a piece of glass or plastic I would get 1 to 3 reflections of the red LED lights. The blackout housing covers all of the LEDs (and also comes with a set of stickers to cover the front LCD screen if you really want to). It comes with a solid back door, a clear panel back door, and a skeleton back door. (But not the larger battery back door, apparently - not being the owner of an actual larger battery, I cant say for sure) It has the same standard GoPro mount tabs on the bottom, and comes with one of the slide-on action clip mounts too. Finally, the front rectangular lens mount is identical to the clear case, so if you bought a polarizing filter you can use it on this case as well. This case has allowed me to get video clips and static shots without the LED light reflections that the clear case can allow.

Think twice before purchasing

I would give it 0 stars if I could.Few reasons why I returned this product 2 minutes after it arrived.- After unwrapping, the housing was scratched up looking like someone had repackaged a refurbished product and advertised as new.- On the product page it clearly shows the back of the housing as identical to one that comes standard with the Hero 4, having two rubber pads, 1 on top of the housing and one on the bottom, however this product just comes with a massive rubber pad in the center of the housing, interfering with the touchscreen.

It is not an original GoPro housing and not as …

It is not an original GoPro housing and not as shown in the ad. It did not come with the extra back doors and the door has a black cushion across it that obscures the view finder (like the HERO3 backdoor). It came on the plastic bag and not on GoPro package!

Genuine GoPro case, and buy protective covers!

This is the exact same case as the one that will come with your GoPro. I scratched the lens on my HERO4 Silver and had to buy a new case because of it.I would highly recommend that you purchase a protective cover for your GoPro so you don’t have to worry about losing another case!My protective covers go with me everywhere now! This is a genuine GoPro case that comes with all the HERO4 Silver and Black cameras.

Steezeee

Slick and great quality. Seems like same material as original. Only thing I would say is the Waterproof case with this is a completely solid black piece with nothing to see through. If you have a GoPro 4 Silver the screen is no longer use’able so you will need to use the clear housing for waterproof if you wish to view the screen. I believe another reviewer posted an image of this. Anyways not a big deal as that one I rarely use for underwater footage. Definitely reocmmend this product, GoPro now looks so much cooler!

Works as it should

Self explanatory. Just realize it is “BLACKED OUT,” for a reason. To not let light of any kind out. A lot of people purchase for the look and not functionality.

Fits securely around the camera, but overpriced. I just don’t trust the aftermarket cases holding onto my 500 dollar camera though.

FAKE

This is not a legit GoPro housing. Comes delivered in a plastic bag and says GoPro on it, but it is counterfeit. The plastic and parts are inferior to real GoPro accessories.

Must have for all seasons

Sturdy and perfect for protection during crummy weather.
