This mount positions our 7” Garmin GPS nicely in the dash area of our Honda CR-V. Not too high, not too low, most all the buttons are accessible, not something that I could say about a different mount we’d tried.Very nice hardware, too, packaged very eco-friendly.We ended up using one of the included rubber strips to better fit the CD slot, and the result is a very solid system to hold our Garmin.
Really decent GPS holder, it’s got some weight and is sturdy. My 2013 Toyota RAV4 has vents with vertical slots, so I haven’t been able to find a vent-mount that works. I can’t use my CD player anymore but I don’t care, my entire music collection is on a flash-drive that my stereo reads via USB port. Here’s what I really like about using a CD slot mount for GPS:1. It makes my GPS much easier to operate since it’s a lot closer to me than when it’s tucked back under my windshield with the suction mount. As a rule I don’t fiddle around with my GPS while driving but it’s still obnoxious to have to strain forward just to get fingertips on my GPS while stopped. On road trips, my wife is navigator and she appreciates having the GPS much more within reach.2. The GPS in my car is now about 1-foot in front of the center vent of my ventilation system, so it’s now catching conditioned air in the summer. I know a GPS is designed to operate in a hot environment but I get concerned about how hot it is tucked clear up where the dashboard meets the windshield and it’s catching no A/C at all. I don’t like my GPS being hot to the touch in an operating car, I live in a place where summer temps are routinely 95 F or hotter. With this holder, no more frighteningly hot GPS, I like that!3. Using the windshield suction mount, I have to remove the entire GPS and suction mount to put up the window shade in my car. The CD-mount eliminates this. It’s nice to be able to put up and take down my window shade in seconds without messing around with my GPS and suction mount every time, too. I live in a place that gets hot in the summer and my dashboard is black, so using a window shade is a must.In the 2013 RAV4, when using the CD slot mount, the GPS blocks about half of the stereo/backup camera display. To me, it’s no big deal. When backing up or changing radio stations, you can easily flip up the GPS to see the full display and then flip it back down when you’re done. I’m not one who is constantly fiddling with the stereo, so I don’t care.
Works great but be aware of 2 things. First, my Nuvi covers the digital display of the radio (I expected this when I ordered the mount). I can still reach the preset buttons and I know which station is which, so the only thing I lose is knowing what song is playing. I have Shazam on my phone if I absolutely need to know. Second, the 3-wing nut hits the dashboard (it overhangs on my car a little) and won’t turn: can be solved by a trip to Home Depot. The results are great - my Nuvi sits EXACTLY where I want it. Will see if it lasts.
Installed this in the CD slot on a 2015 Nissan Xterra and I am extremely pleased. Even with a 6” GPS unit there is little if any vibration or jitter. I consider the mount (certainly with a 6” display) to be VERY robust. Simply install the included rubber protective pads, install the retention knob, lock it down and you are ready to go. Perfect for the Garmin Nuvi 67LM 6-Inch GPS as well as other units using the same mounting configuration.
This has been the best Garmin holder I have had. The holder that comes with the Garmin can’t go on the dashboard anymore because it is not flat anymore. I can not put it on my windshield because I am short and can’t reach it. This goes into the CD player, stays the way you place it, no problems
The ball is just a tiny bit small which causes the GPS unit to slip to a downward facing position as soon as the car has the slightest vibration. But the gadget holds so well in the CD player that I really wanted to use it, so I torn off a strip of paper and wrapped that around the ball and forced my GPS unit onto it and it holds now, even going over bumpy roads. If it slips down in the future I’ll use a thicker piece of paper. I would still recommend this unit because it really holds onto the CD player and every other gadget I’ve used falls off the dash.
This works very well in my 03 GMC truck, my 05 Honda Civic and my 08 Honda Odyssey to hold our Garmin GPS. Easy to install and remove and is compact enough to store in the console when not in use. It places the GPS at a convenient location without blocking the front window field of view. We’ve used the suction cup and bean bag type holders and this is by far the least expensive and best.
This is a good device but before you buy one you need to figure out what on the dash will be obstructed by its presence. In my Toyota RAV4 it obstructs my vehicles clock which is a constant irritant. Yes, the GPS has a clock, but I have to back out of the navigate mode to read the clock on the GPS. On the plus side, the holder places the GPS is an excellent position for me to see it.
This is made from metal and holds very well. The ball included toate to a Garmin nav needs to be a bit bigger but a small piece of waterproof tape did the trick to keep it…
Garbage
I have a garmin 2590’s lmt series and written as a compatible model so I bought it. Installed the bracket snap my gps and boom. It fell forward. It’s loose, the ball is too small.
It works if you don’t hit any bumps and your wife doesn’t complain about it not being high enough to see. (2008 Yukon) I just got the standard mount from Amazon.
great
Worked really well. Very easy to see screen and make adjustments.
Item is as described…it was sturdy when I placed it in the cd slot.
Very useful!
It is the best there is.
