Blue, green, red, yellow, white, gray, and black assorted colors
Size:Pack of 1 Slide boxes are perfect for storage or transportation of standard size slides. Molded, rigid boxes securely hold slides in grooved slots. Keep boxes safely on the benchtop during use or stack boxes for long-term storage. Each box is secured with a rust-resistant nickel-plated clasp and hinge pin. Each slot is numbered to correspond to the slide inventory sheet on the inside cover of the box. Boxes stack securely on top of each other. Black cork lined. Measures 8.25” length by 7” width by 1.3” height.
The cork for behind the slides was a little loose on my case but I still give it 5 stars. The plastic is quality not to soft not brittle. No nasty plastic smell some products have. The hinges have pins so they will last and the latch is a good quality with a nice fit. Also the slots for the slides are almost to wide but they will fit thicker slides with no problem.
Other reviewers complain about the quality of this slide box, but what do you expect for the cost? These are sturdy enough, and if you go through a lot of slides like I do, you don’t want to spend a fortune storing them. I’d love to buy a cabinet, and I see that Fisher has reduced the price on theirs a little ($323), but for the time being these slide boxes work just fine. Fisher’s cheapest slide box which is completely made of plastic and crappy at that, is $14 and change. This slide box is so much better for the price.
It’s a little black rigid plastic box, with slots for slides, thin cork in the bottom, slide index paper in the top, 2 plastic hinges, 1 metal latch. It does the job, and looks like it’s made well enough. One star off because the slots are too wide and the slides flop and rattle around. Indeed, the top edges of adjacent slides can hit each other, possibly breaking them. Microscope slides are a fairly consistent thickness, so there’s no reason to make the slots too wide. Don’t ship your collection in these, unless you add a piece of foam carpet padding or something to keep them from flopping around.Otherwise, ‘tis a fine li’l slide box at a reasonable price and I’ll get another when needed.
This slide case is poorly made and the seller took around 30 days from time of ordering to get it to me. It will work for it’s intended purpose but it is very poorly made (the cork backing is peeling up off the plastic) I won’t buy from them again.
I don’t usually carry around 100 slides, but when I do, I use this.It has a big metal latch and strong hinges, and the box itself appears durable enough. I have no expectation that this case will afford glass slides much protection if dropped, but they are organized and portable. What more do you want? It definitely beats using those smaller slide boxes (which generally need a rubber band to hold them together). The cork lining is a nice touch, but I doubt the experience is any different from the foam lined version.
I’ve given this product 4 stars because of it’s speciality. I don’t think there’s a huge market for a microscope slide box so when I saw the price that included shipping I was happy to order it.But now that I have it in person I see how the quality matches it’s price. This is not wood. It’s a very light hard plastic that may crack over time.Next time I may invest in a stronger case.
The product does what it’s supposed to, and it is nicely made. It is, of course, plastic, but it’s not extremely cheap plastic or anything. It’s fairly sturdy, and the hinges on the latch seem to be strong enough to last a while. The bottom is lined with cork, which is a nice feature as well. What I liked most though is this; the spaces are the right size to fit single slides or two slides per slot. This is good because some specimens are easier to prepare by placing two slides together instead of a cover slip or smear (like blood, plant fibers, or algae). It’s also good if you’re using it to store slides, because it means in can hold twice as many. I will undoubtedly buy more for my lab.
This case is not especially durable or of high quality, but it is fully adequate for storing slides. The case is made from a thin plastic. However, there is nothing wrong with the construction of the case, and it works fine for what it is supposed to do. You can’t beat the price when discounted to the under eight dollar range. I would not have paid twenty dollars for it.
Great product and timely delivery. Thanks!
Awesome storage for my slides, love the sheet to keep track of slides!
Looks and feels cheap. It broke after a month or so of light use. I would not recommend this product.
kinda cheap looking. lightweight. you could just use a cigar box with some dividers..
Good microscope side box, well made and a great value. As others have pointed out, the slots are a little wide; I measured a few slots with a good digital caliper and they were…
Nice little case for my slides. No more dangerous of them getting scratched.
It does what it says it will do. I have no complaints nor glowing praise. I do appreciate the label in the lid.
Nice box, a bit on the cheap side, but does the job.
Nice case, but a bit small.
