18 Volt Cordless Drill with Charger and Battery and 16 torque clutch and 3⁄8” keyless chuck for use at home, the office or shops
I have a couple of Dewalt products (20v max drill and a 3⁄8 inch drive impact wrench). I bought this to have at home while I take my normal tools to work (Navy aircraft carrier) for extended underways so my wife could have something that would at least get the job done while the good stuff is with me. This tool is not going to fill that slot. The battery won’t hold a charge for more than a couple days which wouldn’t be the end of the world if the charger was smart enough to keep the battery topped off if left plugged in, but alas, the instructions warn not to leave it on for more than 12 hours or damage will occur. So really, you’ll need an 8-12 hour notice before your job. But that’s not all. The motor is also so weak that it can’t turn screws or drill bits into anything firmer than drywall. If all you’re trying to do is put up picture frames or speed up IKEA builds, than this will get the job done, but if you want a hole in a stud or screws turned through fence boards without predrilling holes for them, you’re going to need something else.
It works.. thats about it.battery was a 12v NICD pack for me. with some kind of rust on the positive of some of the cells. as well as some hard crusty white corrosion on the negative terminal of one of them. though they seem to work anywaysits okay after a few cycles of use.The battery says 18v but its really only 12v. ten NICD cells in series.charger also says 15v DC with a simple transformer and bridge rectifier and capacitors.I use my own charger to charge the battery for optimal performance. which can charge 6 to 10 cells of NIMH or NICDBatteries were barely noticably warm when the light turned green.I would charge it as soon as you can stop the drill by hand by grabbing the drill chuck/shank and holding it in place. Even if you can only hold it still for a split second.and the lights on the charger don’t change when its finished charging or not.be careful not to overcharge these or they will run themselves flat simply by the overheating causing them to rapidly self discharge.if the pack starts to get warm. stop and dont touch it and let it get completely and i mean completely cool before you put it on the charger. It fell apart in my hands because most of the screws were stripped possibly someone else opened it up already before I got it.I had to use some oversized threaded screws for it to stay together. with some superglue tooI wouldn’t recommend using the charger it comes with. get your own separate charger and make an adapter of some kind with the right polarity to charge the batteries more safely and consistently for maximum performance (Pretend the drill is made of egg shells because its made from crumbly plastic)Its better than nothing I guess. also note there is no speed control. and it has a random sudden stopping action if you let go of the trigger really quickly or if you tap the trigger. so its spinning then it will stop instantly with a clunk. No idea why. Maybe its some kind of braking action?
the battery would not hold a charge. now it is a paper weight
Got it fast. Works great. I used it the day it came and it worked great. Great price too.

Fire hazard!!! Pluged the charger in an put the battery in the charger and smoke started rolling out of it. Do not buy this item. Cheap P.O.S.
This only charged once. I should have returned it when I could.
