Product Reviews

very positive beginning

I have had this television for nearly a week. I had purchased a Samsung un65js8500 but returned it. Don’t get me wrong the Samsung un65js8500(VA Panel) was a great set (excellent contrast) if you looking at it within the framework of the tv. But if you moved to an off angle even a little the picture color saturation de-graded a lot. I felt like I went from a 9 on picture quality to a 1, it was that bad. With my living room set up having a sectional sofa I just could not live with it. So a researched a lot and came across the LG-UH8500.I knew I needed a television with an IPS Panel to widen the viewing angle, since most all televisions with the VA(Samsung & Sony) would not work due to poor angle viewing, and the OLED at $5000.00 would be to much to spend. The operating system on this unit in my opinion is excellent. I love the remote, operating system on the television is very quick and responsive. All the latest is in the television, but that means nothing if the picture quality is not up to par. So now for the big picture. Hooked this baby up used RTINGS setting and I was so disappointed. The picture was dull and flat. Played with the setting for 3 days and finally came up with a picture that was very impressive. It does not have the contrast of the Samsung I returned, but I knew that and was hoping for a good quality picture and I found it. Is was not easy to set at all. Even the contrast was pretty good for a television with a IPS Panel. Keep in mind I like a picture that has some pop. Nice vibrant color without being over saturated. The Dynamic setting on this set was way to much. This is what I came up with for setting. If you have this television please give them a try I don’t think they will disappoint at all. And by the way this unit up-scales 4K much better the Samsung. Really Nice. The smart feature is a lot better than the Samsungs in …

Was very surprised of the quality. Very slim compare to my previous tv the Samsung 55.The smart feature is a lot better than the Samsungs in my opinion and it plays just about any video format! I tested Dolby vision at its finest and looked incredible. Very sturdy and well built doesn’t feel cheap. The OS is also faster response compare to samsungs smart and Samsung didn’t read every video format like this one did. I love my Samsungs too but this one blew me away. Must buy if into 4K hdr mid tier searching.

Got a great feature set and picture at a good price.

After a professional calibration, this is a great set. We got one delivered that came cracked, so this is the 2nd one. We are not seeing bleed or other issues. Yes, it’s not as dark as my plasma or an OLED, but we wanted an IPS screen because we needed a good viewing angle range. We are also not super crazy about the video experience. We can live with less than perfect given we only spent $2k and have been living with 720p for the last 10 years.Out of the box this had a definite red shift to it, and using the built in Netflix I’ve watched Marco Polo in Dolby Vision. And HDR as well. So should be reasonably future proof.Keeping in mind that your mileage may vary and my room with a slider may not be your dark theater room, here are settings that work great for us. Black levels very poor at night

Black levels very poor at night. Had weird blooming issues on top of screen and on dark screen. Good tv if you don’t watch tv at night.

The TV of my dreams.

I was very pleasantly surprised when the TV was delivered on time, unpacked, set in place and turned on to check that it worked by the delivery men.

The picture’s good, but not good enough for the price

I did a LOT of research before buying this TV, and it wasn’t cheap, so I was disappointed that it worked out so poorly.

Our best purchase ever!

LOVE this TV! Best purchase ever! If you like 3D, this is a great choice. My husband and I love 3D movies and we are enjoying having this option at home now.

Five Stars

very happy with this tv

It was amazing..

It was amazing…. right up until 6 weeks after the warranty expired. Now I have no picture. Just gray lines.

The last of the best! What more could a stereo-lover ask for

The last of the best! What more could a stereo-lover ask for? 4K(UHD), HDR, and perfect passive 3D…. such a shame that 3D is dead in the consumer market :(

Excellent picture and sound

Been using the television for about 2 months now and love it. The picture is excellent, surround sound is great, and the trim matches all my nickel hardware throughout the house.

Awesome TV. However

Awesome TV. However, it does give me some trouble when I am trying to stream media from my PC (via Windows 10). It doesn’t always want to pick up the signal.

it is good tv for 3D

it is good tv for 3D, and does what it promised to do. however the sound system is not very good. sometimes it is not loud enough with 60 other times 19 is too loud.
