First off let me say that I bought this kayak at a local sporting goods store for much cheaper than the offerings here on Amazon so, I strongly suggest shopping around if this is the one you want. Having said that, i couldn’t review it there so I figured I’d do it here to better help my fellow Yak fishermen. This is a great little kayak for the $275 I spent. Thats right, $275! Same exact model. I had originally thought that I’d be in that 5-$600 ballpark for something sit on top with a decent seat but look no further. It has enough room for a standard sided milk crate and small cooler in back. Up front I fit a medium sized tackle box and my anchor and rope. It has 3 fishing rod holders, one thats removable and swivels 360 degrees up front and 2 right behind the seat. The seat itself has a nice cushioned back rest that is adjustable and a thin cushion seat. Lots of storage under the two plastic portholes which are sealed with rubber gaskets which I was quite surprised about giving the price. It tracks straight and is fairly stable although I haven’t had the courage to try to stand up on it quite yet. Other reviews I have read claim that it is quite stable standing up.As to a couple cons.. Its not completely leak proof from the get go. I simply went to my local hardware store and bought some silicone adhesive for about $5. I went around the entire boat and sealed off the edges to anything that looks like it might leak such as shock cord fittings, fishing rod holders, storage ports etc. Now just a few drops to drain after an entire day on the lake. The other con is that if you like to spend more than a couple hours on the water the lower seat cushion gets pretty uncomfortable. A little section of Tempurpedic foam would do nicely and would not cost too much. All in all for the money I spent, I am extremely pleased with it and it feels quite durable. I own 3 Lifetime fold out tables that I’ve had for years and all of them are in very good condition still so this company has a pretty good reputation with me. Like I said, shop around and get a better price because you can find this kayak for under $300.
It is a decent kayak for the money. Nothing fancy and you won’t win any races but it floats and once I added an extra cushion for the seat it was comfortable. I am 6’ 3” 250 lbs and I have plenty of leg room. It was worth getting.
Kayak is fantastic and I cant believe how great of a deal it was! We’ve used it several times already in ponds, rivers and the bay. Very happy with this purchase! Only issue was shipping, came in large plastic bag which caused the item to have scratches when delivered
very stable kayak, plenty of area for storage.
Took this kayak out today for the second time since I received it. Very little water gets in the bottom at the end of the day. This kayak was not as stable as some of the reviewers wrote, but I am new to kayaking, and attribute it to my inexperience. I will say that, today, I felt more comfortable and stable than I did my first time out. I’ve read where people are saying they can stand up in this kayak….I can’t even imagine. There seems to be plenty of storage in the underside of the kayak, accessible just behind the seat, but it is difficult for me to access this while floating. I’ve had better luck tying down a milk carton behind the seat and using that for my tackle and tools.I’m giving this kayak 5 stars because this seems like a nice little kayak for the price and, so far, I’ve gotten a quite a bit of enjoyment from it.
Nice
Great kayak. We opted to buy new paddles other than use the ones that came with it. Overall very happy.
Used it two times and the front water proof compartment screw off lid the mount was cracked
Great product holes by seat isn’t good stays wet unless you plug them.
Great price for what appears to be a decent kayak. ARRIVED WITH A BROKEN CLIP that supports the back strap.
First time on a sit-on-top, absolutely love it. Very stable, first time out, there was some wind but nothing horrible.
I really like this kayak for a number of reasons. I carry it on top of my Honda Civic’s J bars so at 52 pounds it’s perfect.
This came off the truck in a bag, bag was shredded and rust all over it. Kayak is scratched, a couple gouges, the front compartment plug along with all 4 scupper plugs are…
Great! Only other kayak I have used is a sit in one. Only suggestion is take a cushion type water proof for bottom. Great kayak so far. Found plugs at cabelas that worked.
