Product Reviews

Okay for a pitcher just starting out

With so many variations in grip for different types of pitches, it’s difficult to make a product (or even a book or video) that can cover such a wide range of possibilities. This baseball and it’s markings proves that point. While it’s nice to have a reference, it’s very hard to discern exactly how to place your fingers on the reference marks on the ball. Unlike the picture, our baseball arrived with a bunch of featurless blobs stamped on it that in no way represented finger marks. Some were so small they could not have come from human hands unless Clemens really holds the baseball with the tip of a pinky. Made it hard to figure out which way your fingers lie on the ball. Luckily, the included instruction pamphlet has actual pictures, so you can compare the ball marks with an actual hand position.Again, preference is everything for a pitcher; my son and two other kids grabbed the ball and all three said, “that’s not the way I grip a curve ball.” So, unless you’re an old third baseman trying to teach his kid how to pitch, this may not help much.We didn’t get much practice time with it either, as my Lab and Schnauzer both decided it wasn’t a real baseball (they know to stay clear of the real thing), and promptly destroyed it as soon as it was left unattended. In hindsight, after a kid has learned a few basic grips, this training aid is not worth it.

5 stars for righties…2 stars for lefties

This is a great product if you’re right handed. But, my little south paw was a bit disappointed. It states in the description that it is for right and left handers, but it is really made for right handed pitchers. For lefties there is a note, “As all instructional steps for left-handers are a mirror image of those shown for right-handers, left handers may wish to study these illustrations in this booklet in a mirror.” So when my son is outdoors trying to make use of this ball, he should carry a mirror in his pocket? Really? As for the baseball itself, the fast ball fingerprints are interchangeable, but the curveball and slider are not. Disappointing.

About what you would expect

Was as advertised. After 2 afternoon teaching sessions of about 30 minutes each with my son, the markings are barely visible. Product would be rated higher if markings were made more resistant to what I would consider light wear and tear.

Five Stars

this product met standards of the ad good service

It would have been great were it not for that

Marks wore off first time using it, had to use multi colored sharpies to fix it. It would have been great were it not for that.

Was able to teach myself how to better throw a good variety of pitches recommended for anyone trying to learn new ways to pitch

Three Stars

not a bad tool just not a great tool it okay

excellent for older players but I did not realize it had marks for curves and sliders. Since I deal with little guys I cant use with them. Does anybody make them with fastball only marks?Marks
