Product Reviews

trash

sure looked nice, but… didnt even get it completely mounted before it failed. as other reviewer noted, the body is a decent mill-finish anodized aluminum that has some merit for appearance. HOWEVER, the cage body and mounts are 2 separate components. The mounts (visible as black in the pictures) are a thin standard grade ABS - this creates 2 distinct problems; 1. the mounts are independent of the body so no matter how tightly bolted to the frame there is inherent play between the mounts and body. The play allows the cage to be loose and wobbly even when torqued down. 2. The mounts are plastic. In an effort to try and tighten the bolts down enough to stop the ‘play’ of problem #1, the bolts went straight thru and sheared the thin plastic completely off like a cookie cutter. The ‘torquing’ was by hand with a multi-tool, ust ot clear. I could actually bend the mounts in half two fingers. Flimsy redefined. If possible, I would give this a zero/ negative star rating because defects noted are not some fluke to the one I received, but a baseline design flaw so elementary and dysfunctional its amazing they actually went to market with this. Showed to a couple buddies and they mocked it as absolute trash. Threw it away and kept riding.2014 Trek Superfly 8 w mods, cat 3 rider w 20 years saddle experience.

Broke on first ride.

I bought three of these. Two for my Cobb bracket behind my seat and one for my frame. I was 21 minutes into my first ride and one broke off. Literally, the screws and plastic around the holes were still on my bike. And, I use Loctite so I don’t have to over tighten screws.Other than that these seem to be okay cages. Snug fit on the bottle but you get what you pay for. I think I’ll stick to aluminum or even expensive carbon.

Not my cup…cage

The aluminum part works as intended, and looks good. Problem? Black plastic pieces are made of hard plastic, so I’m not sure how long will they last, and that make them also look cheap. No bolts included, but most people already have them. There are better options for the same money (~$8), so I’d not recommend it.

Avoid this product.

Without being dramatic, this product is a waste of money. I bought this for my workhorse bicycle that I often lock up in sketchy parts of town. On my other bikes I’ve got better cages in the $20-$30 range (I can’t justify spending $60 on a carbon cage if I’m not actually racing). In any case, the plastic mounting brackets on this cage are pushed into place and begin to loosen and wobble as soon as you mount the it. I remedied that with a bit of plastic cement. About a week later the aluminum just snapped. There is nothing “ultra quality” about any aspect of this product. Spend a few bucks more and get something that will last a few months, minimum.

I love the look of the cage but the plastic needs …

Purchased two sets of these cages. I first set broke at the mounting holes so I assumed I over tightened them. The second set broke at the bottom piece of plastic that prevents the bottle from falling through. I love the look of the cage but the plastic needs to be similar in quality to that used by Tacx. I’d buy it again if that were the case. Meetlocks did ask me to send it pictures which I did. That was about 6 months ago and still no product improvement. I would not buy these right now.

Junk

This is a retraction. Originally, I thought this cage was great. It looks good and held my bottle well. But, today, after using it the first time, it fell apart. Not only that, but the thing fell sideways and jammed my crank. I nearly crashed into my partner. It does not come with instructions, screws or washers so I used my original cage bolts. I fingered tightened them between my thumb and index using a 3” allen wrench. Apparently this was enough force to crush the cheap black plastic which separates from the aluminum. Pure junk; and dangerous.

Awesome bottle holder

Personally love this bottle holder, getting rid of my old plastic specialised holders and getting another pair of these. Super light, super sturdy, great fit on the bike.

Really nice quality, fits my water bottle perfectly.

They work fine

For the price they serve there purpose.

Broken after a month

Bottom support for the water bottle is a small piece of plastic. After some gentle mountain biking, the plastic part broke off.

Fell apart first ride.

Fell into 3 pieces ride one… weird design comes apart easily. Not a good product. Got my money back.
