    Product Description

Monroe OESpectrum shock absorbers are engineered specifically for foreign nameplate vehicles and feature the latest global original equipment valving technologies. Developed through years of research and on-vehicle testing, Monroe OESpectrum units provide an unprecedented level of handling precision and control while filtering out the ride harshness commonly encountered on many foreign nameplate applications. This unique blend of control and comfort is made possible through Tenneco’s ‘Twin Technology Active Control System’, an exclusive internal damping control technology first developed for leading global vehicle manufacturers. Tenneco’s Twin Technology consists of its latest Impact Control Valve (ICV), which delivers exceptional control under virtually all driving conditions, and a patented Low Speed Tunability (LST) piston design that isolates impact-related noise, vibration and harshness.

2006 Sonata GLS 3.3L V6 154,000 mi

Installed these on a 2006 Sonata GLS 3.3L V6 with 154,000 miles. Also ordered and installed the Monroe 905984 Strut-Mate Mounting Kit for these shocks. Easy job, old shocks were bad!! Much better ride. Cant beat the price and the savings in labor costs!I reused the shock boot, which was in good condition. First side took awhile because the lower attach point bushing was stuck on the bolt shaft. I don’t think I bathed the lower attach point enough with penetrating spray! On the second side, I used a lot of penetrating spray (like PB Blaster) and it popped off, no issues. I did second side in less than an hour! Upper bolts not a problem on either side. Before I started second side, I shot the penetrating spray on lower attach nut and shaft, then jacked car, took off wheel. Re-shot lower shaft with spray, concentrating on the interior (non-nut) side of shaft. Then I organized my tools, got the second jack under A-arm, etc., then sprayed lower attach shaft again. Took my time, letting the penetrating spray do its job. Loosened the top bolts, took off the lower nut, removed the top bolts, then wiggled the shock on the lower shaft and it popped off. Used impact wrench to remove old shock nut holding the old shock and old Strut-Mate assembly together, slid the boot off. Assembled the new shock, old boot and new strut-mate; then installed assembly on the car. USE PENETRATING SPRAY ON LOWER SHAFT! Put a piece of cardboard under to catch excess. Easy job, old shocks were bad!! Much better ride.

Monroe Quality, but are YOU up to the Challenge?

Worked fine. Installed myself on my Sonata. Should be an easy job but was a PIA! Be prepared to swear when removing the old shocks. On my car, the eyelets on the bottom of the shocks fused with rust to the stud they’re mounted to. No amount of beating with a hammer would get them off. I had to cut the eye in half with a small pneumatic angle grinder and pull the shock off, leaving the rubber center and metal sleeve on the stud. Then I had to carefully cut the metal sleeve along its length so that I could get a screwdriver in there to pry it apart, then hammer it off. Careful you don’t cut too deep. Be sure you have the tools and skills to handle this job before you start. Most likely, yours won’t come off easily either. Putting the new ones on is a piece of cake. Cheapest price on Amazon.

Sensa-Trac Rules,………..

This is the king of mid range priced Struts and Shocks. There is a lot of technology built into these. My ‘07 Sonata didn’t drive this well when it was brand new.I wanted to buy new springs for it, but I decided to try these out first. It handles better than ever now, and new springs are not needed. My car has 120 thousand miles on it.

waste of $

Too soft. The car bounces around like it did with the worn struts/shocks. I’m looking for a new set to replace the new set. The only reason I have it the second star is because shipping was decent.
