As a screen protector, this product does the job it’s supposed to. Installation was fairly painless, but it did take a bit of work to remove all the air bubbles and specks of dust, even though I thoroughly cleaned the screen first. I think a lot of this is probably due to the size - it’s very easy to install a protector like this on a phone screen, but on a 12.2” tablet, there’s a lot more surface area to deal with.I did install the screen protector, but I ended up removing it because there is one significant issue - friction with the pen. If you’re only using your finger then this product would be great, no problem at all, however the surface of the film is not, and cannot be, as smooth as the glass of the tablet itself, and that causes an issue with the nib of the S-Pen (I also tried it with the Wacom Pen for Galaxy Note as well) when sliding across the surface. I found there was significant friction which prevented me from using the pen in the manner I wanted. Straight tapping is fine, but when using the pen(s) with sketching software, where it needs to be gently and repeatedly swiped across the surface of the screen to achieve light pen/brush strokes, the nib felt like it was being hindered, and I couldn’t get the really smooth motion I wanted.
4.5 stars. First, watch the installation video all the way through before trying to install it. It’s simple and easy to understand. The de-linting is the most important part. You are provided with three shields, and my recommendation is to get it right the first time. Having put many screen protectors on multiple devices, I know two things: (1) the smaller the device, the easier to be bubble-free, and (2) the more you fiddle and try to “fix” it, the worse it gets. So, take twice as long to de-lint, place the film carefully in the corner and fold it down across the cover. Don’t worry about bubbles - only worry if there are pieces of lint under the bubble. The video shows you have to get rid of the lint by lifting up the protector and using their sticky tabs to grab it. Great idea - but - the more you fiddle with it, the greater chance you have of adding MORE lint to the screen and the sticky side of the protector. I knew it… I knew it when I was doing it. The first protector I put down, it went relatively well. There are a few small lint pieces - maybe 3 at most. I told myself that with this fancy shmantsy kit, I would do it 100% bubble free. Second protector… bigger fail. Third… over a dozen lint pieces stuck. AND yes, I did clean the screen each time. It’s just Newton’s New Law.
It took me two tries to get this one right. The first try had a lot of bubbles that I couldn’t get out to due to dust under the screen. I have been a proponent of dry application screen protectors for some time as I find Zagg just awful, they end up peeling, getting dust underneath the edges, etc. I have installed a ton of dry application screen protectors on phones and a few on tablets. My one recommendation is this: Install this screen protector in a steamy room such as a bathroom with the shower running. The steam keeps the ambient dust to a minimum and will make a dust free installation much more likely. This is especially important when installing on a larger screened device such as the Note Pro 12.2 The first time I ignored my own advice and paid for it. The second time it went on flawlessly, no dust or bubbles under the protector. Touch/feel is nearly like the original glass surface, finger/SPEN glides smoothly over the surface and it feels durable like it will last a long time.
I purchased these screen protectors for my brand new note pro 12.2 and was severely disappointed with the quality of the product as there was dust sandwiched between the two pilot plastic sides and was stuck to the adhesive part of the screen protector. This was an occurrence in all 3 of the protectors and was apparent when the screens were held to the light and and, as a result, caused small dust bubbles to form across my brand new screen of which I had just removed the factory plastic from. In hopes to remedy this I attempted to use their cheap cloth that they provided to remove the particles and only ended up making it worse as the cloth degraded when wiped on the screen and caused even more dust to settle. Not only was the application an issue, but when writing with my note pro pen I noticed how difficult it was to write across the screen. I will be ordering another screen protector from a company that hopefully provides a better quality product. Would not recommend to anyone.
Real friendly email. Assures you that you have option for unlimited replacements if you have trouble installing or have managed to damage the one you got to work—-HOWEVER, their contact site goes directly to Amazon, which is only for complaints and return, and the other options do basically the same thing. It is almost impossible to contact directly to company unless you go through Amazon first and file a complaint. Not, Not the best way to keep return customers. The product itself is very thin and sticky, which attracts all sorts of dust, and on a 12.2 size screen, almost impossible to put on perfectly unless installed in a “Clean Room”–which most people do not have. I am sure someone has put this on correctly, but I had no luck with it –and I tried for hours with different methods of installation. On a large screen–a waste of time, and I have been unsuccessful in contacting this company to convey my concerns and disappointments. Not a product I personally would recommend, but if you have experience with this sort of thin material–then good luck!!! P.S. I hate posting negative reviews of anything!!!
Works, just not make sure you get it on right the first time.
as described
Perfect!
The screen protector came when it said it would, which was great. I did have bubbles, but not that many. All in all it’s great and it serves it’s purpose. I’d order again!
nice snug fit
This is the first Mr. Shield product that I have been dissatisfied with. I have always purchased glass shields but I couldn’t find one on Amazon of the Mr. Shield brand.
Unless you live in a clean room environment, garbage like all the others with what’s supplied. Need to start including a clean tent for installation on larger screens like these.
excellent
I just marked 5 stars a couple months ago. I just wanted to say this is a top product with all the bells and whistles to apply it with.
