I am highly impressed with this flash so far. I own a Canon 580II but wanted a flash for second body and something that would provide some decent functionality but I didn’t want to spend $250 for the Canon 430II. This Neewer NW-670 appears to be the answer at an unbelievable price too, just $49! I’ve shot a couple hundred pics with the flash on both my 7D and 1DS mk III and the results are pretty amazing. The build quality is fairly solid as well. Here is a better breakdown of the features:* Yes it really is E-TTL II* Wireless trigger (IR) on the side of the body* External battery pack compatible* PC sync port* Relatively fast recycle time <3 seconds* LCD display* Metal hot shoe* Front and Rear curtain sync* Memory settings* Projected focusing grid (assists focusing in dark conditions)* Power Zoom head 24-105 (little noisy)* The case is nothing to brag about, it’s a cheap nylon bag with a draw string* Solid construction and shockingly good build quality* The head does not lock but the click-to-set is stout enough.I plan to use this over the holiday this weekend and will report back on its performance.
All the features of the flash are great. My problem is with the construction. I bought this flash to take on a trip. When I received it, I tested it out and everything was working great. I packed up my camera bag, and a couple weeks later I’m on my trip. Upon arriving at my destination, I discovered that the flash wasn’t working. At first I thought it was the batteries. I replaced them, but still no luck. The flash will not test fire, and my camera doesn’t recognize it in the hot shoe. Hot shoe still works with other gear, so I know it isn’t a camera issue. I know the batteries are good because the display screen light will illuminate green, and I can see a small digital line on the screen. Aside from that, nothing. I didn’t drop it or otherwise mistreat it. The only time I actually got to use it was the first time I tested it. From there it went straight into my padded camera pack, so it was very safely stored. I don’t think it is related to my issue, but I did notice that the plastic piece that slides into place and snaps to cover the battery compartment is bulging out and will not seat correctly like it did when I first got it. It still shows that it is getting power, so I think this problem is unrelated to my overall issue, and just speaks to the quality of the product. I have included photos to show the battery door that isn’t flush, the flash display screen, and the flash itself that has absolutely no signs of wear of misuse. I probably just got a bad unit, but I’m bummed that I wasn’t able to use this on my trip and that I wasted $50. Like I said, I do love the features of the flash, so I rated it 2 stars for the bad unit. Would likely have given it 5 if it had continued to work.
For the price, it’s hard to beat. I’ve been having a lot of fun taking photos with this flash and it works exactly like it should. No bells or whistles. The one big downside of this flash is the manual – it’s horrible. If this is your first TTL flash (like it is for me) you’ll be very confused and looking for a lot more information than the skimpy manual will provide. I’m not exactly sure where the manual is written, but the English translation is pretty poor (the first half of the manual is in an Asian language). Once you figure out the functions, I think you’ll really enjoy this flash. Highly recommend.
I bought this a few months ago and I use it all the time in my studio. I have used it in dark settings and the photos turned out amazing. Just a little tip I learned…. Make sure with any attached flash you are taking your batteries out. My friend owned one( not this one) and one day it just stopped working. She used it less than 5 times. For $50.00 is well worth the money.
As an amateur photographer, I could never really justify buying an original Canon Speedlite. But the need was there for a flash and I finally bought this unit based on the positive reviews. QC issues are not always the fault of the manufacturer as any product that needs to be shipped thousands of miles may have damage. If the product works as advertised, then it deserves a positive review because it was us, the consumer that agreed to its price in the first place. Consumers cannot expect a product to work better than advertised, no matter the price. This product performed as it is supposed to. It is a little thirsty with its power usage necessitating a frequent change in batteries, but I buy my batteries at Daiso for $1.50 instead of $8 Duracells, so that may be it. No complaints at all with this flash so if you are on the fence or just want to have an external flash for your DSLR even though you don’t use it professionally, get this flash.
Just got my flas and so far so good. The flash fires off when it suppose to and works well with the remote control. However, it’s not working with my Cowboy CBS 4 Channel trigger set, why not? I don’t know. It is a good flash, the TTL is great and on point (the instructions for English is in the back of the manual) it also works very well with my Canon 6D. IT’s a good flash for the price and it comes with everything listed in the advertisement breakdown. However the advertise ment advertises it as Neewer NW670/ VK750II but the box and flash states NW670C Speedlite. Hopes this helps some one.
This flash is great. Build and material quality is high, buttons feel crisp/solid, and it has all of the settings I need. I’ve used it a few times in extremely low light such as camping and the photos came out nice. Photos look much more natural if you use a diffuser.
The screen stopped working 5 weeks after I received it. Thankfully it is an ETTL flash and the important functions can be set via the camera itself. I will use it for now because I do not feel like spending any money on a new flash but this is disappointing for sure.Otherwise, it is a nice flash and will trigger other flashes as well. It must have poor build quality if it broke already.
Boy, I was reticent before purchasing this based on some of the negative reviews but so far, I’m as pleased as can be.
It is an inexpensive flash and on the hotshoe it does fine. Advanced usage like TTL wireless flash in flash mode is an epic failure.
Good Product! Well made!
I have used this a few times and it seems solid. I am not an expert in using a flash but I have had good results so far.
I have only use this a few times since it arrived. I will say that it is a true electronic through the lens flash. It seems to be of a high quality regardless of the price.
these Flash units worked perfectly and would link up with my pocket wizards with the pc cord and function flawlessly. Great buy
Easy to use, works great!
