Required for the fastest cable Internet speed tiers
The NETGEAR CM700 High speed cable modem provides a connection to high-speed cable Internet with speeds up to 1.4 Gbps. It is cabellabs certified DOCSIS 3.0 that is 32X faster than 2.0 devices. A Gigabit Ethernet port provides faster access and downloads.
So far works great! I read some reviews about constant reboots but none so far. Easy enough to install but just providing the serial and mac address to isp. Up and running after that. My service is 300mbps from Cox and speed test was consistant at 350 mpbs. In fairness, the previous router was the same speed. I got this on sale for $98 so, no brainer for my needs, but cm1000 I think is a better product but it’ll be a long while till Cox upgraded my area to gigabit. Even so, this will handle that speed. I do have the latest firmware, maybe that’s why this has been working fine without need for reboot. If gives me problems I’ll update my review and most like return this and get cm1000.2/20/17: Cox updated the firmware to .06 and I haven’t experience any problems yet.
A bit pricey but should be good to go for the next 5 years or so! Replaced a legacy “zoom” as it was reaching EOL via Comcast/Infinity. I had no difficulty registering it online via “CHAT” at comcast. sent in MAC & S/N and about 10 minutes later we had a connect. We support separate modem & wireless router (also Netgear) due to Negear’s router range. We also connect to the router via CAT5. Remember to turn your router OFF though prior to contacting them. Once you see all 4 top lights solid (should be green) and the bottom one at least ON or blinking, THEN turn your router ON. you should then be able to ping “comcast.net” once the router obtains the new IP (which takes a coupla minutes for this router). Finally I want to mention to ALWAYS change the default PW on your router!
Works great! I have had 0 problems with this modem for the past month I have owned it. It is not on Comcast/Xfinities list of compatible devices but they got it working within 30 mins of calling in. I get great Download speeds! 40Mbps more than what I am paying for! I can’t complain!
I bought one of these since Comcast was asking me to upgrade the current modem I had and keep charging me for it. I decided since I needed to upgrade anyway I would get my own. It was easy to setup. Once it booted it took me right to an activation page. It took two tries to activate but it was very quick to do. I speed tested right before I disconnected the old modem and was getting about 140Mbps. After switching I speed tested again and was getting about 240Mbps. I was paying for 100Mbps service but they recently said they upgraded in my area to 200Mbps service for the same cost. I’m very happy with this modem and it will save me $10 per month.
It worked like a charm! Haven’t had any problems yet and when my internet (Spectrum/Brighthouse) guy installed it there was no fuss about setting it up. I have a base 60mbps DL package and managed to pull 71-72mbps. I have no training in tech, so either the company is letting us DL faster than advertised or this device is enabling it. I prefer to believe this modem is allowing that. Not to mention this thing has amazing ventilation and I can’t imagine the line getting bottle necked between myself and my two other roommates.
Before getting this router I have a SB6121 on a Comcast internet Blast.i used to drop speed frequently and even lose internet connection frequently so I decided to go for this Touter CM700. After getting installed it’s been a week I haven’t seen and drop in my speeds or losing internet. The installation is very simple and now I see that currently 23 channels are locked for downloading and 2 channels for uploading. With this Router I am getting 120mbps download speed on a wifi Andy previously I use to get only 80Mbps on wifi.I hooked up This Router to a netgear Nighthawk R7000 and both work flawless. I am really happy with the speeds I am getting and definitely recommend this to anyone who are looking to upgrade their Router.
Charter advertises 100MB download speeds. I was getting no where near that, maybe about 35MB if I was lucky. I tested my speed after I installed this modem and I am getting 85MB through a wireless network card. If I hook directly into the modem I am sure I would get over 100MB. This modem is pricey at over a $100, but I use the internet for my home phone, my alarm, my wireless printer and other devices. It is important that I get the fastest speeds possible. This modem allows me to do that. I read the reviews before purchase and decided to go with this one. It was well worth the money I spent.
This modem really packs it all in with a huge punch. It is much better than anything your provider will offer you. My only complaint is the lack of firmware updates released by Spectrum Time Warner on it at the moment. Other than that which is out of Net gears hands, it is a great product. The up and down channels are always great for me! House of 6 with lots of devices and the up and downs fulfill all our huge streaming needs with the internet package we have and the modem allows us the number of up and down channels we pay for unlike many provider modems that actually don’t always offer you all the up and downs you’re paying for :) seamless connection. Just make sure you also have an up to date wireless router in addition or you won’t benefit from the increase in up and down channel availability and true internal power of this super beast!
The modem works with Comcast. But it required a reboot to get DHCP going every time I unplugged the Ethernet cable. And the modem takes about 10 minutes to boot.
This was the easiest set up right from when the cable guy connected the signal and I connected the router, instant internet. No issues and I have not revisted the modem since.
I went from a regular xfinity router and modem to my lovely cm700 and a nighthawk x6 and as soon as I set it up I noticed a difference in speed.
Awesome Modem. Liked my first one so much I purchased a second for my other office.
Works as expected getting great speed using this modem.
Purchased on prime day after $25 off. just received the product and set it up with RCN. Worked fine as of now or I won’t be posting this review otherwise.
Not worth the hype. It doesn’t help the router kick the speed up enough.
Very easy Setup! Less than 20 minutes from box to running! Noticed an immediate increase in performance over my old Motorola Modem!
Purchased this unit to replace Xfinity Motorola Technicolor modem. (June 2017) From the start, the CM 700 kept dropping the internet connection requiring power off/on reboot.
