Nice Projector

I just received the HD26 yesterday to replace my old Sanyo PLV Z5 and got it ceiling mounted and set up from the same location at about 13ft away and the image is so much brighter and clearer even with some ambient light in the room. Haven’t played much with the image settings, but color and contrast looked good out of the box. The remote is backlit and comes on with a push of any button which is very convenient. The 10watts internal speaker is useful and quite loud enough to add a surround sound effect for my sound system since I don’t have my rear speakers set up. This projector is a great upgrade for me coming from a 720p unit. Will be looking forward to see how good the 3D image looks in the near future. So far so good.Update:I finally got a chance to tweak the image settings to my liking. The image is even more impressive than the presets, vivid preset being the best. But here is my user settings if anyone is interested.Brightness: -5Contrast: 25Sharpness: 15Color: 15Tint: 0AdvancedGamma: GraphicBrilliantColor: 10Dynamic Black: OnColor Temp: CoolColor SettingsRed: Hue: 6Saturation: 6Gain: 16Green: Hue: 0Saturation: 0Gain: 5Blue: Hue: 3Saturation: 3Gain: 13White: Red: 1Green: 1Blue: 4Cyan: Hue:-6Saturation: 0Gain: 10Magenta: Hue: 22Saturation: 0Gain: 15Yellow: Hue: 32Saturation: 2Gain: 12Color Space: AutoEnjoy!

Very Nice

This is my first projector and I am only using it for an outside patio area, mostly at night. Was very impressed with picture and ease of adjustments with remote control. The speaker that is built in works great. I can use at level 310 and hear everything great. If you turn the volume off you can barley hear the fan. Eco has a little less noise and a little less light. But if you have volume on 1 or above you can not hear anything unless it is sitting right next to you. I wish they would included a white power cord instead of black for this model. There is a picture of projector during the day against a plastic roll down and it still has a nice picture.

This is the one.

i read more reviews than I care to admit and almost read TOO MANY because I nearly got to the point where I thought no projector was any good. Don’t worry about DLP rainbows with this. They don’t exist. The contrast is good and the black is black. It’s very quiet and the color presets are handy. Set up was also pretty simple for a fairly tech illiterate person like myself. The speaker is useable but I recommend hooking it up with external speakers or sound bar.

Time for an outdoor movie!

Like many other reviewers, I did a TON of research before making my decision to purchase the Optoma HD26 projector. My criteria were, I thought, pretty straight forward. I needed 1.) a projector that was bright enough for outdoor use (primary function), and 2.) 1080p. My research ended up informing me that not all projectors are equal. My application is an outdoor theater for my backyard. I am projecting on a 140” Carl’s FlexiWhite Projector Screen, which requires the projector to be ~ 13 feet back and ~ 1 foot below the bottom of the screen. I have a Sony BDPS3700 Blu-ray player connected via HDMI, and I am outputting audio via the 3.5mm headphone jack to 2 powered PA speakersLyxPro PA Speakers. Our first movie, albeit a bit cold out, was like sitting in a theater. The picture was crystal clear with clean motion and great contrast. Everybody (16 people) were impressed with the picture and were even more impressed that we were watching movies outdoors that rivaled indoor TV’s.The projector takes approximately 2 minutes to warm up sufficiently to see a picture on the screen, which reaches full light output in ~ 4 minutes total. For our application of movies, we aren’t concerned about turning the projector on/off. Once it is on, it stays on until we shut down after the movie. The colors from the projector seemed pretty darn good out of the box, so I haven’t changed any settings.A well thought out piece of this projector, surprisingly, is the remote. Optoma may have gone a little overboard with how bright the backlight is on the keypad of the remote, but it makes it easy to find the buttons you’re looking for when it is dark. I wish other manufacturers would take this into consideration. I have zero regrets about my purchase, and highly recommend this projector.

Super happy!!

We mounted this upside down about 14 feet from the wall and the picture is HUGE! It’s about 10 feet wide! We installed it in the kids playroom and they love playing multi-player games because each screen is about the size of our flat screen upstairs (with four players). You can’t beat the price for a screen this big! Great quality picture, too. Very, very happy.

Tips for Maintenance

My bulb blew halfway into its useful life (~1,300 hours). I replaced the bulb and noticed that the fan was not working.

Great performance.

I decided to give up cable and only watch internet. This is an excellent product. So far I’ve gotten maybe 500 hours and the image is clean, adjustable and it’s like watching a…

DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS CRAP! (OR give into the con and purchase the extra warranty!)

WASTE OF MONEY!!!2 months shy of having it 2 years the light bulb blew up - LITERALLY BLEW UP - inside the machine.

The “Oh, Wow Effect” Produced by the HD26!!!

The Optoma HD26 1080P DLP 3D projector, in a word, is awesome! I bought this projector on July 1, 2016.

Not very happy with product!

Product only lasted one year!

after a year and easily under 50 uses

Bought two of these about year ago. Used in a catering hall, therefore has minimal use, and is only used about 3-5 times a month.

One Star

One year later and the fan noise became increasingly unbearable. Finally Tonight the projector has just died.

Highly recommend

Awesome quality

Four Stars
