    Product Description

Product Description Now you can cut your energy costs and find out what appliances are actually worth keeping plugged in. Simply connect these appliances to the Kill A Watt EZ, and it will assess how efficient they really are. The large LCD display will count consumption by the Kilowatt-hour, same as your local utility, letting you calculate your cumulative electrical expenses and forecast by the day, week, month, even an entire year. Also check the quality of your power by monitoring voltage, line frequency, and power factor. Now you’ll know if it is time for a new refrigerator or if that old air conditioner is still saving you money. With the amazing Kill A Watt EZ you’ll know “watts” killing you.

From the Manufacturer The cost of electricity is soaring but you can help reduce your energy costs with the new Kill A Watt EZ. Simply plug it into a wall socket and then plug in your appliance to assess how efficient they really are. The large LCD will display the power consumption by the kilowatt-hour and the built-in memory retains accumulated readings when power is interrupted. Program in your local utility rate and display projected costs by hour, day, week, month, or year. Evaluate the quality of the electrical power provided from your utility company by monitoring voltage, line frequency (Hz), and power factor (VA). Perfect for detecting voltage drops and brownout conditions before they damage delicate equipment. The knowledge you gain from Kill A Watt EZ can save you thousands of dollars.

Product Reviews

Buyer Beware

The unit worked fine when performing testing the power consumption of a device for a limited amount of time. However, I ran into a problem when was using the Kill A Watt to test or monitor the power used on a device for an extended period of time. The unit is rated at 1875 watts ( Max Current 15 Amp and Max Voltage if 125 VAC )In my particular case the receptacle on the Kill A Watt began to melt and turn brown when attached to a device that draws about 1,311 watts (117 Volts at 11.5 Amps ) which is below the maximum ratings of the Kill O Watt.

Do not overload!

I have been using this Kill A Watt for some time now and it still works well. I have used it on some devices with known power usage and it seems to be very accurate. Be sure to enter the correct charge per kilowatt hour from your power company. 3/7/2016 UPDATE - While using the Kill A Watt with a Vornado space heater, the Kill A Watt overloaded and it’s socket burned and melted. Needless to say, it no longer works. I called the company about this and all they could tell me ( other than that they would not replace it) was not to use it with space heaters. It seems to me that of all the devices for which you would want to know the cost of operation a space heater would be at the top of the list. There is no warning in the documentation about this use. So if you want to check low wattage, low amperage devices this is for you.

Great Device. Fuse protected.

I like that it gives more information than just your cost. I like that it accumulates watt hours. It displays voltage, amperage, power factor and VA.My two complaints is that it covers both sockets in a wall and it is hard to get access to the data because the display is at plug level and the unit is usually plugged in behind a bookcase or under a desk.I would pay extra for a wireless display and a unit that only covered one socket. This is my second Kill A Watt. I had a moment of inane curiosity and decided to abuse it by hooking a camper up to the first one and see what the device was capable of. 1st. it will warn you when you exceed limits. 2nd, if you go draw even more power the fuse inside will let loose. Unfortunately the replacement fuse cost as much as the device so I just pitched it.

LCD is terrible and doesn’t last.

I purchased this in February 2015. Now, 2.5 years later, the LCD screen is unreadable. Even when I first purchased it it was a little hard to read and you had to look at it at a particular angle with decent lighting. It has been degrading ever since and I tried to use it the other day with no success. I think a company that has such a “killer” product would be interested in making it reliable and lasting. It’s not exactly a cheap device. I found it really useful in the handful of times that I needed it, but the lousy LCD from start to finish is why I’m giving this a 2.0.

Could use a few more features.

Works properly but I was disappointed that one of the calculations that you would expect this to do simply it does not, namely it does not give average wattage over the measuring period. You must calculate this yourself by KWh/elapsed time. Just a bit of a nuisance where it should be calculated for you.

Works but is a bit clunky

Unit works as expected but without an extension cable it’s annoyingly difficult to read the meter since it’s behind our entertainment center.I ended up getting the mFi by Ubiquiti and love it. It’s cloud connected, works wirelessly and has programmable rules. You can find it here: http://amzn.to/1RYKYFf

Lasted only 2 months

This lasted about 2 months and then died. It was easy to use and set up. Sorry, I never write bad reviews but this was an exception. Wish the seller and Amazon could have gotten their acts together to solve the problem. Still sitting dead on the corner of my desk. (I’ll be happy to write an updated review if things change)

Other than that I like it. It can tell you how much electricity …

The rate takes only 4 digits to the dollar, some of you may need more decimals places beyond tenth of cents. You enter electricity rate per kWh in USD ($). For example I enter $0.081 for my rate, my rate is actually in cents 8.09 cents ($0.0809) per kWH. So I’m losing 1 digit of accuracy when I use the P4460. Other than that I like it. It can tell you how much electricity an appliance is using.

Five Stars

Works exactly as I wanted it to

Works well

Very useful little device. Works well.

money saved.

now i know what each until drawing. even when its turned off. knocked my electric bill down 10 bucks a month by knowing what to unplug so its not drawing any juice.

Good Power Monitor

Good quality watt meter, it helped me fine tune my undervolt on my GPU to get an optimal power to performance output ratio on my computer.

Easy to use and it gave me all the key …

The Kill A Watt EZ was exactly what I needed. Easy to use and it gave me all the key measurements I needed including ongoing cost.

As expected

It works as expected. Looks like I will be using it for all my appliances here as we weed out the older AC units.

don’t waste your money

I saw a youtube video on this and thought it would be a great item to have. Problem is that it is not easy to use, I couldn’t figure out how to use it, even with the directions…

Five Stars

as adverized.. Need longer period to determine true value

Excellent product, measures everything

This little meter works great. I need to check Amps

This little meter works great. I need to check Amps. I was going to try and make something and use a current loop to measure but this solved my problem.
