Lighweight cotton twill. 3 panel dome with flip up visor. Koolfit elastic sweatband. One size fits all.
Wearing this hat prompted a snapchat with the tagline “First day of kindergarten” courtesy of my totally-still-friend Jean. Regardless of our ever waning friendship, I love the hat. It works great under my helmet for protection from rain and sun. I like that it flips up for when not in use, and that when I look in the mirror I know that I am better than other people. I told my boyfriend that it would be great for keeping other men away while biking and he said, “That includes me.” If you have a strong sense of your biker self, buy this hat. See you on the road.
I generally wear a 7 1⁄4 size fitted hat and this cap does fit pretty snugly. Not at all uncomfortable, but I probably wouldn’t want to wear it on a head that was much larger than maybe 7 1⁄2. But my beef with it so far is that the 3 panel design leaves 2 “humps” flanking the red stripe down the middle. So there are these two weird peaks that follow the seams between panels. I do like the look of the hat in general, and maybe it will eventually form better if I wear a helmet over it or steam it. I might try to get it wet and mold it to my head, but with the peaks, it looks pretty odd. I’ll report back about my fitting methods!Edit: Okay, I’m still not thrilled that the hat needs some modification to fit well– however, like others, I found the bumps on either side of the colored band down the middle to be annoying. I couldn’t decide if it looked like a butt or part of the accoutrement of some non-existent ecclesiastical office. Anyway, I tried a couple of remedies:Soaked it in hot water and let it dry on my head. Results: wet head.Soaked it again and used an iron on the hottest setting on the side panels and seams until the water had mostly evaporated. Results: Much better! I also used it along the seams with the hopes of shrinking the fabric a little because, clearly, the hat is misshapen because the material that makes the stripe is different from the cotton material that makes up most of the hat. The strip is either too small or shrank after it was attached making a bizarre looking dip down the middle of your head. If you can shrink the cotton a little, you can fix the shape of the hat. You might have similar luck if you run it through the wash with hot water/rinse, but it seemed easier to spot-target with the iron. The stripe seems to be synthetic and you might want to keep the iron away from the stripe. It’s a lot to go through for a cycling cap, but I really like the color of it! If you already have the hat, it’s a good solution.
Excellent cycling hat. I’m considering buying a few more in more colors. The back isn’t too scrunchy, which is really important to me and I can’t get in many cycling hats. The material is high-quality and the visor is a great size and shape.
It’s my new daily hat, replacing my baseball cap. great for riding around town. It’s not my favorite to wear under a bike helmet as the stitching is significant and causes pressure points on my head, but by itself, it sturdy, fits well, and looks great.
Not sure what I was expecting here, but it wasn’t this. The red stripe down the middle causes the material on either side to puff up, leaving cleavage down the middle of your head. The visor, when left down, looks ridiculous. Flipped up, it makes the hat too small. I couldn’t find any configuration that was acceptable. This one’s for the bin.
Good product
I was tired of carrying a regular baseball style hat on my bikes rides to wear when I stopped for food breaks etc and decided to give this classic cycling hat a try. As other reviewers have mentioned it does fit tight but I that is so it fits under your helmet on cooler days.I have washed it a few times so far and let it air dry in order to keep it shrinking and it has not shrunk for me.
Great for cooler days and when the sun is low. And to hide helmet hair after a ride. (Within the Velomati rules.) Unobtrusive style with no logos and enough pieces in it’s construction to be a comfortable and secure fit with and without a helmet.
I’ve had this many years. Still fantastic.
Was a gift and the recipient loved it.
High quality, fits well
So tight every time I wore it I would get a bad headache. Hardly stretchable
Great cap for the price
Great little cycling cap. It’s small enough so I can stuff it in my jersey pocket
Fits great. It just isn’t very comfortable under my helmet. It could just be me, but I don’t like the feel of it.
I just look goofy in this hat, and haven’t worn it out. Not sure I will. But seems of good quality
Nice price. Pace offer a nerdy fit at first but are dandy once broken in.
comments powered by DisqusWell made good fit. My only problem is this: the brim is way too long for me. When I’m riding I can’t see the road! Not necessarily a product flaw just not meant for me.
