In one of the most ambitious landmark series, Planet Earth II allows us to experience the world from the viewpoint of the animals themselves. Traveling through jungles, deserts, mountains, islands, grasslands and cities, this series explores the unique characteristics of Earth’s most iconic habitats and the extraordinary ways animals survive within them. New technology has allowed individual stories to be captured in an unparalleled level of detail. For the first time, viewers are immersed in incredible landscapes and share the most dramatic moments in the lives of animals. From spellbinding wildlife spectacle to intimate encounters, Planet Earth II will take you closer than ever before.
Incredible. These haters are rating it low because they don’t understand it’s being released weekly. It deserves 6 stars. I’m a grown man and I cried tears of joy bruh.
This is the BBC’s most gorgeous documentary series to date. Planet Earth II has plenty of new elements to admire. The show is eager to share. Narrator David Attenborough, sitting in a hot air balloon above snow drenched mountaintops, checks off each general advancement during the pilot:The filmmakers were able to get incredibly close to each animal thanks to innovative remote cameras.Further advancements in technology also meant discovering previously unobtainable “wildlife dramas.”We can see, hear, and admire these dramas better than ever, with clearer, brighter, and more comprehensive photography than has been possible prior to this.Better yet, the progress Attenborough heartily expounds is more than evident on screen. Covering islands, mountains, jungles, deserts, grasslands, and cities, “Planet Earth II” literally covers a lot of ground in its seven episodes (the final episode is a “making of”), always with an eye toward beauty and our quickly changing environments. Impossible sights are enticingly strung together, forming stories like nothing we’ve ever seen before.
The first episode so far is great. So many reviews rating low because they didn’t get the entire season when it is being released weekly.
I purchased a Samsung 65 inch curved screen ks8500 last month..I have an xbox one s…there is a lot of user generated 4k even with hdr that has amazed me. I dont plan on buying many dvd’s in fact this is the first hard copy of a movie in dvd form I have bought in like 5 years. Im all about streaming..that said..I got my copy today and watched 2 episodes of my own choosing. To say that I was blown away..words can not begin to explain. There are 2 sequences that come to mind. One involving a pack of lions chasing down a giraffe which is as amazing for the camera angles as the 4k HDR presentation…but the one that really blew my mind involved close ups on some Golden Eagles battling over a carcass. The 4k image along with the brilliant colors and lighting of HDR..the close ups and slow motion of the battle..the details and colors of the eagles themselves that no human eye could ever pick up on its own..for that scene alone..as amazing and beautiful and powerful as the greatest action scene in the greatest action film(say Mad Max Fury Road for instance which is a masterpiece and masterclass in action film making)..that alone made 4k worth it.
Don’t let the seemingly low review scores keep you from watching this stunning series. It appears that the low ratings really are not about the content, but rather issues with the delay in its release. The first episode - Islands - is available as a free download - and it is nothing short of breathtaking. An amazing reminder that one doesn’t have to look to outer space to see the majesty of creation. The sheer beauty and complexity of Nature - and the incredible desire to survive and populate - is on full display. If you were a fan of the original series, you will absolutely enjoy this second exploration and if you are a first time visitor, you will gain an appreciation for the fragility of our delicate, beautiful home - Earth.
This is getting bad reviews because some customers are experiencing tech issues I suppose, but I just watched episode 1 and OMG it’s good. We were jumping in our seats during the marine iguana segment.
The wait is over. Such an amazing documentary. Excited to watch the rest of the episodes.
Even more gorgeous than the original! The technology that is available today makes the series even more compelling. The camera angles that can be achieved now show a more unique perspective that wasn’t possible before. We can be less invasive with better footage, which means more natural interactions with wildlife. What an exciting adventure this must have been. I can’t believe Planet Earth was 10 years ago!I know we are only 1 episode in at the time of this review, but I really enjoyed the variety of animals that was shown on the first episode. I felt that they went above and beyond to showcase animals that weren’t on the original Planet Earth. My husband and mines favorite part was the hatching of the sea iguanas. It was almost like a sporting event; we were rooting for the iguana babies yelling, “RUN BABIES! RUN! GOGOGOGO!!“David Attenborough. Long may he live. I don’t know a single person as dedicated to his work as this man. I won’t even stage a guess at how old he is because I don’t care. His voice is magical. We may have to digitize his voice so he can narrate every nature show from now until forever.
Spectacular, inspiring video from the BBC-production team that should be shared with anyone in the family who has an iota of interest in the wonders of Mother Nature.
This looks incredible on a 4k tv really shows off what a 4k television is all about. Some episodes might be a little violent for children but they will have learned something.
This is another great video. It is interesting to see the amount of time the videographers put into these interactions. Love this video.
This is the 4K disc that will sell people on the technology. The documentaries are great, but the images are unforgettable.
Can’t wait to watch more episodes! We are never disappointed with Planet Earth! I hope more episodes are free soon
Not as good as the original but incredible nonetheless. The shots are unbelievable. Breath taking. nothing else like it; especially if you get the chance to see it in 4K.
very fascinating look into the different climates/habitats on Earth. Islands, Deserts, Mountains etc. Very well shot and produced. Good use of camera drones.
I really enjoyed the original but the video on #2 is outstanding, the best i’ve seen! The new camera techniques allow for video not possible before.
Great picture and got it for a good price. I just wish they had more extras. Not quite as good as the original but worth watching.
