Product Reviews

BEWARE: 128GB & 16GB cards are only UHS-1, compared to UHS-3 of the 32GB & 64GB cards

The 128GB & 16GB versions of this card are rated at UHS-1, compared to the much faster UHS-3 rating of the 32GB and 62GB models. Most of the reviews you’ll see on here with 5-star ratings showing 50-60MB/s write speeds are for the 32/64GB cards, but the 16/128GB cards are going to be a lot slower. They’ll still hit 60MB/s “transfer” (READ) speeds as listed in the item description, but the WRITE speed is a much slower 15-20MB/s - about 13 the speed of the UHS-3 cards! And that’s fine if you’re just using it in a device like a phone or tablet, or a basic P&S camera. But if you’re expecting lightning fast write speeds for something like RAW files with a DSLR, 4K video recording, etc, then look for another card which has at least a UHS-3 rating.I hate it when Amazon pairs products with different specs on the same page because the reviews of one item aren’t the same as the other items offered. Come on Amazon, you need to fix that! It should be easy enough to create a button which allows customers filter the reviews to show only those which are for the specific item that they are looking at.FOLLOW UP: Guess what I noticed today while looking at reviews for another product? Amazon now DOES have a way to filter reviews for only the specific item that you’re looking at! All you need to do is scroll down to where the reviews are and click “See all XXX Customer Reviews”, then when the reviews come up look for where it says “Filter by”, and to the right of that it says “All Formats” - just click on that drop-down menu and select the specific item for which you want to see the reviews. I swear they must have added this feature after I posted this review because I’ve never seen it before, and it has always been a major gripe of mine with Amazon reviews. Thanks Amazon!!As always, if you found this review helpful please slick the “Yes” button below the review. Thanks!!READ MORE

Some of the worst performing cards in this review also happen to be the most expensive. Not all 633x cards are created equal. The two cards reviewed from Lexar and Transcend are both marked as 633x but vary in performance greatly.4k video recording using action cams and drone cameras have a typical bitrate of 60mbps or 100mbps, corresponding to 7.5MB/s to 12.5MB/s. All cards in this review should theoretically be able to handle this usage easily.Using microsd card as supplemental phone storage potentially could benefit from a faster card,Best Looking Card (if it matters):Sandisk Extreme Pro: Red/Gold with white printLexar 1000x: White/Gold with Black/White printSamsung Pro+: White/Black with a red stripe and Black/White printPNY Turbo: Lime Green/Black with Black/White printUpdate 9/14/2015: Added additional cards to the list.Update 9/18/2015: Added 128GB Sandisk Ultra and Lexar 633xUpdate 9/21/2015: Added 2 PNY Elite Performance cardsUpdate 11/28/2015: Added Sandisk Extreme and Extreme plus 64GBUpdate 11/29/2015: Added Samsung EVO+ 128GB and PNY high performance 128GBREAD MORE
